Colts promoted LB Nate Triplett off their practice squad.
Indianapolis is reeling at linebacker with Gary Brackett and Ernie Sims both out indefinitely. Triplett is an undersized second-year player out of the University of Minnesota. He’ll take some of Phil Wheeler’s special teams reps.
  • Linebacker
Chargers waived DE/OLB Everette Brown, WR Bryan Walters, and ILB Nate Triplett.
Brown has a second-round pedigree from 2009, but he played fewer than 30 defensive snaps last season. Walters was kept on the roster over Laurent Robinson coming out of training camp last summer.
  • FA Linebacker #49
Chargers signed LB Nate Triplett, formerly of the Colts.
Triplett, a 2010 fifth-round pick out of Minnesota, figures to be fifth on San Diego’s depth chart at inside linebacker. He can play on special teams.
  • FA Linebacker #49
Buccaneers signed LB Nate Triplett, formerly of the Chargers.
He replaces Thomas Williams, who was signed on Thursday but left the team for undisclosed reasons. A 2010 fifth-round pick out of Minnesota, Triplett is a longshot to crack the 53-man roster.
  • FA Linebacker #49
    Colts waived LB Nate Triplett.
The Colts’ needs along their mangled lines are more pressing than holes at linebacker and special teams. Triplett can head back to the practice squad.
  • FA Linebacker #49
Colts signed LB Nate Triplett off the Chargers’ practice squad.
The Vikings’ fifth-round pick has yet to see any game action this season. He’ll take the roster spot of Cody Glenn, who has been placed on injured reserve.
  • MIN Wide Receiver
Vikings waived WR Taye Biddle, WR Marquis Hamilton, DB Colt Anderson, OT Patrick Brown, and LB Nate Triplett.
Biddle and Hamilton are the last of the receivers to be cut. Biddle is a lanky speedster who often shines in offseason practices before the contact begins. Triplett was the Vikings’ fifth-round out of Minnesota.
  • FA Linebacker #49
Vikings signed fifth-round LB Nate Triplett to a four-year contract, including a $152,000 signing bonus.
Triplett started only one year at Minnesota, but was a special teams dynamo throughout his Gophers career. He’ll try to make the Vikes in the same role.
