The Bulls fired executive VP of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley
The Bulls, who fell to 29-49 with a loss to the Suns on Sunday, have reached the playoffs once in the last ten seasons. Between the disappointing on-court results and the front office’s decisions, ownership has decided to move on from Karnisovas and Eversley. The question is how these changes affect the future of head coach Billy Donovan, who was believed to be a candidate for the North Carolina head coaching job. The Tar Heels have reportedly hired former Nuggets head coach Michael Malone. If Donovan stays, he may be in a position to have a greater say on personnel moves.

Arturas Karnisovas has picked up 2020-21 option on assistant coach Nate Loenser’s contract, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
Loenser was hired in 2015 by Fred Hoiberg as a video coordinator, and served as head coach of Windy City Bulls in 2016-17. The Hoiberg note is important here because Loenser wasn’t a Jim Boylen hire, so this news doesn’t necessarily mean Boylen’s job is any safer today.

Sixers assistant GM Marc Eversley has agreed to become the new general manager for the Bulls, according to ESPN.
Eversley will join new Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas to lead the new front office in Chicago. Unfortunately, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Phil Jackson (or Scott Burrell) aren’t walking through that door any time soon, but it’s probably a step in the right direction.

Arturas Karnisovas is taking his time with Chicago’s GM search.
Karnisovas was officially hired to be the Bulls’ new President of Basketball Operations on April 13, so he hasn’t had much time to get himself settled, let alone interview prospective GMs. He’ll be taking his time as he zeros in on the right candidate, but once the new GM is in place, head coach Jim Boylen (who was extended by the former administration) could be the next guy to go.
