Ariel Hukporti amassed six points (3-of-6 FGs), five rebounds, and two assists in 17 minutes in Saturday’s 94-90 loss to the Hornets.
Selected with the final pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, Hukporti started his summer league debut on Saturday. He was solid as a rebounder, but the more experienced Dmytro Skapintsev (nine points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot in 20 minutes) played more minutes off the bench. Hukporti is on a two-way contract, and the Knicks not filling the void left by Isaiah Hartenstein at this point in the offseason could open the door for Ariel to fight for rotation minutes, especially if New York does not re-sign Precious Achiuwa.
  • The Knicks have signed Dmytro Skapintsev to a two-way contract and waived Jaylen Martin to open up the roster spot.
Skapintsev went undrafted in 2020, but now he will have the opportunity to see a legit role with the Knicks behind Isaiah Hartenstein with Mitchell Robinson and Jericho Sims both sidelined. He isn’t worth adding in standard leagues yet, but the big man that had been playing for the Westchester Knicks will be worth keeping an eye on. Martin has been spending his time in the G-League and that will likely continue despite him losing his two-way deal.
