Orlando Magic vice president Matt Lloyd is reportedly finalizing a deal to become the Senior VP of Basketball Operations with the Minnesota Timberwolves, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Woj went on to say that Lloyd comes well-regarded with his tenacity and connections on the scouting trail and relationships with teams and agents in deal-making. This is especially newsworthy as it is the first significant hire under new Wolves president Tim Connelly, so who knows what other changes may be in the future of the franchise. Lloyd started his NBA career as the Bulls PR assistant and spent 10 seasons in Orlando, responsible for overseeing the Magic’s scouting departments and assisting with roster management & development, and he’s going to be a big voice in the draft preparation that is already in full swing.
