Gladness

Andrew Bynum (31 points) and Pau Gasol (triple-double) had their way with Gladness and Jeremy Tyler (15 points, six rebounds, a steal and block) manning the paint for the Warriors tonight. Gladness is a stretch for fantasy value, but Tyler might be worth a look in deeper leagues.

Apparently Lee has been dealing with the issue for weeks. Following the MRI, he was told by team doctors that he should not play until he is fully healed, or risk causing further substantial injury. This doesn’t sound like a day-to-day injury and this late in the season it’s definitely a shutdown risk. The Warriors don’t have any real replacement for Lee, but Jeremy Tyler, Dominic McGuire, and Mickell Gladness are the next guys up, with Tyler and McGuire being the guys to look at in fantasy leagues.

The Warriors are already starting three rookies, and with operation tank city in full effect, why not make it four? Lee will be out indefinitely with his groin issue, and Golden State might as well get a look at Gladness to see what he’s capable of doing. Gladness has played just four games in April, but it is reasonable to believe he should see time down the stretch. Regardless, he’s not on the fantasy radar.

Miami could still re-sign the big man to a second 10-day deal, but there’s no real urgency to do so. Gladness has averaged 0.3 points in eight games this season.

The Warriors are desperate for any big body with a pulse right now. Andrew Bogut (ankle) is out for the year, they missed out on J.J. Hickson and Andris Biedrins is dealing with a groin injury. Raw Jeremy Tyler started at center on Wednesday.

Gladness spent much of this season in Miami, but it looks like he’ll now head to the Warriors after Golden State missed out on J.J. Hickson.

Gladness can now only can be re-signed for the balance of the season, otherwise he is a free agent. Gladness shouldn’t be on any fantasy rosters, no matter the technicalities of his contract status.

Gladness signed a guaranteed contract for the rest of the season on Sunday and then was immediately forced to take off. He’s just depth at center behind Jeremy Tyler and Andris Biedrins.

Gladness is averaging just 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in six games for the Warriors, but will continue to provide some depth in their frontcourt. He is not a fantasy option.

Benson comes from the D-League, where he was playing for the Sioux Falls SkyForce. He’ll give the Warriors more depth at center, but guys like Jeremy Tyler and Mickell Gladness are more likely to get minutes than Benson.
