Coach Mike D’Antoni talked to Quentin Richardson about coming off the bench Monday, then announced yesterday that Richardson would start the opener.
It’s not at the expense of Joe Johnson, who is still starting at shooting guard. Apparently the plan is for Richardson to start against teams, like the Hawks, who lack a true center, allowing the Suns to play small. D’Antoni will start centers Jake Voskuhl or Jackson Vroman at times instead of Richardson. Tonight’s lineup will feature Steve Nash, Johnson, Richardson, Shawn Marion, and Amare Stoudemire.
