Seahawks signed RT Abraham Lucas to a three-year, $46 million contract extension.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Lucas can also earn more money via incentives. He was set for a contract year before inking the long-term deal. The former third-round pick had a solid rookie season but has since seen his career bogged down by injuries. Lucas has appeared in just 13 games over the past two seasons after taking the field for 16 starts in 2022. Lucas’s deal is relatively affordable for a starting tackle, with the incentives likely giving Lucas a chance to improve both his play and his salary over the next few seasons.
  • SEA Running Back #9
Seahawks OT Abraham Lucas told team reporter John Boyle that the coaching staff is focused on “establishing the run” this season.
Lucas says, “the offense is going to be based around” the run game. The Seahawks’ old-school mentality is further embodied by their plan to use a fullback this season, something that just 11 teams did last year, including OC Klint Kubiak’s former Saints squad. Pending good health, Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III is evidently in line for a significant rushing workload, and he was encouragingly on the field for voluntary organized team activities this week, after ending the 2024 season on injured reserve. It is unclear whether there will be enough work for No. 2 RB Zach Charbonnet to have standalone value, but at worst, he profiles as an elite bench stash.

Seahawks ruled out T Abraham Lucas (knee) for Week 8 against the Bills.
Lucas needs more time to recover from his knee injury. Geno Smith’s pass protection woes remain a weekly concern but hopefully, Lucas can return in Week 9. He was able to practice in a limited capacity this week.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Seahawks OT Abraham Lucas (knee) and OT George Fant (knee) were limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Lucas has been on the PUP lists since July, while Fant has been on injured reserve since September. Both offensive tackles practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday as they begin their journey back to being activated. Geno Smith will welcome the offensive line help.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Seahawks placed OT Abe Lucas (knee) on the active/PUP list.
Lucas is continuing to rehab from a knee injury that plagued him through much of last season. Lucas was injured in Week 1 and wound up missing 11 games as a result. He allowed two sacks on 17 pressures while earning a PFF blocking grade of 53.1 — a steep drop-off from his rookie performance in 2022. In addition to Lucas, the Seahawks also placed linebackers Jerome Baker (knee) and Tyrel Dodson on the active/PUP list.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Seahawks activated LT Abraham Lucas from injured reserve.
Lucas has been on injured reserve with a knee injury since September but is now expected to play for the first time since Week 1. Lucas, a former third-round draft pick, started at right tackle in his only game played this season, and should be in line to start in his return against Dallas.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Seahawks RT Abraham Lucas (knee) is questionable for Week 11 against the Rams.
Lucas is currently on injured reserve. The Seahawks designated him to return earlier this week. We will know his status before Sunday as the team has to activate him from injured reserve if they want him to play.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Seahawks RT Abraham Lucas (knee) has been designated to return from injured reserve.
Lucas was initially placed on injured reserve with a knee injury back in September. He returned to practice for the Seahawks in a limited capacity on Wednesday, prior to the team’s Week 11 game against the Rams. Lucas’ return will fortify a Seahawks offensive tackle group that has been banged-up this season.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said RT Abraham Lucas will have ‘a procedure” on his knee.
Lucas is already on injured reserve with his injury, meaning he’ll miss at least the next four games. Whether or not he’ll miss more than the required four is to be determined, as Carroll wouldn’t put a timeline on Lucas’ return. Jake Curhan will start in Lucas’ absence for the time being, but it’s possible Jason Peters eventually steps in to fill the void.

Seahawks placed RT Abraham Lucas (knee) on injured reserve.
Lucas will miss at least four weeks. Left tackle Charles Cross is also expected to miss Week 2 with a toe injury. Jake Curhan is next in line to start at right tackle.
