Dolphins agreed to terms with CB Alex Austin, formerly of the Patriots, on a one-year contract.

The financials of the deal were not immediately made available. Austin, a special teams ace and depth piece in the secondary, made six starts across 29 appearances during his three-year NFL career, registering eight pass breakups and one interception. He’ll presumably battle for snaps on a roster currently with eight unrestricted free agents in the secondary, alone.

Bills selected Oregon State DB Alex Austin with the No. 252 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Austin (6'1/195) was a former three-star recruit from the 2019 recruiting class who committed to Oregon State -- the only Power Five program he received an offer from. A three-year starter with the Beavers, Austin totaled 12 passes defended and two interceptions in his final season, and was twice named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12. With a 4.55 40-time and underwhelming explosion, Austin needs to rely more on his anticipation and football IQ to make get to where the ball is going to be in a timely manner. Opposing quarterbacks haven’t been afraid to throw his way, as he’s allowed over 1,000 receiving yards and three touchdowns over the last two seasons.
