Chargers signed third-round LB Anthony Waters to a four-year contract.
The Clemson product looked like a possible first-round pick before tearing his ACL in Week 1 of his senior season. Waters wasn’t able to take part at minicamps. A pure inside linebacker, he didn’t help his chances of seeing the field as a rookie by getting arrested for assault and battery in early July.

Chargers rookie linebacker Anthony Waters was arrested Friday and is accused of hitting a man with his car after the man threw a rock at him.
The third-round pick from Clemson was allegedly hit “on his head and body” by the victim and another man on the side of the road after Waters drove his car at the two. The rock broke Waters’ windshield, according to the police report. Waters and one of the men were charged with assault and battery.

Chargers third-round pick, LB Anthony Waters, has been slowed by a knee injury at minicamps.
He suffered a torn ACL to open his last college season and may not be fully healed yet. Waters has big-time upside long-term in San Diego’s scheme, but he’s unlikely to make a huge impact as a rookie.
  • NO Linebacker
Saints signed LB Anthony Waters, formerly of the Chargers.
Waters, the 96th overall pick in ’07, has lost much of his range due to knee woes but could fit as MLB Jonathan Vilma’s backup. Marvin Mitchell is the big favorite for that job, though. Mitchell is a productive special teamer.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Saints waived WR Adrian Arrington, KR Skyler Green, RB P.J. Hill, TE Martrez Milner, DT DeMario Pressley, WR Courtney Roby, and LB Anthony Waters.
Waters lost out to undrafted free agent Jonathan Casillas. Arrington is an exciting practice player when healthy, but missed most of camp with a Grade 2 tear of his hamstring. He has practice squad eligibility left.
  • NO Linebacker
Chargers ILB Anthony Waters will miss at least the first 2-3 weeks of training camp after having arthroscopic knee surgery last Friday.
A major setback. Waters’ rookie season was washed out by a bum knee, but he was thought to be recovered until now. We doubt he’s being considered for a major role while Stephen Cooper serves his suspension any longer.
  • NO Linebacker
Chargers ILB Anthony Waters (knee surgery) returned to practice on Monday.
He’ll play in the preseason opener. Waters is behind in his bid against Derek Smith to start while Stephen Cooper is suspended, but some big exhibition efforts could change that. Waters brings a lot more potential to the table.
  • NO Linebacker
Saints signed LB Anthony Waters off the Bills practice squad.
Waters spent some time during the offseason with the Saints so he knows the system. This is a sign that SLB Scott Fujita (knee surgery) won’t be ready for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
  • NO Linebacker
Chargers ILB Anthony Waters has recovered from the knee injury that plagued him as a rookie.
Waters, a third-round pick, basically redshirted after tearing his ACL as a senior at Clemson. He’s a sleeper to start next to Matt Wilhelm while Stephen Cooper is out on suspension. He’ll battle Brandon Siler and Derek Smith.
  • NO Linebacker
    Chargers waived LB Anthony Waters.
The 2007 third-round pick came into the league with bad knees and couldn’t get on the field despite the Bolts’ persistent weakness at inside ‘backer. Waters probably will get another try, but his next team shouldn’t expect much.
