The St. Petersburg Times hints that free agent OG Arron Sears’ latest setback was related to anxiety disorder and/or depression.
The Bucs have tried to keep Sears’ personal problems under wraps, but it’s clear he is suffering with mental issues. According to the St. Pete Times, some people within the Bucs think that Sears, 25, will never play again.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Simeon Rice (shoulder surgery) showed up for Tampa’s mandatory minicamp, but only participated in stretching drills.
With Gaines Adams in the mix, we wonder if Rice’s snaps will be reduced on rushing downs this season. Rookie guard Arron Sears is also sitting out due to undisclosed “issues.” Luke Petitgout is limited to one practice a day.
  • Bucs signed second-round G Arron Sears to a multi-year contract.
Sears isn’t impressive physically or athletically but started all four seasons at Tennessee. He’s currently competing with Anthony Davis at left guard.
  • Buccaneers G Arron Sears sprained his ankle at practice today.
It’s unknown how long he will be out. Sears was a starter at guard, where the Bucs are already thin following the injury to Jeb Terry on Saturday. C John Wade also walked off the practice field with team doctors. His status is unknown.
  • TB Wide Receiver
Bucs coach Jon Gruden praised the work of receiver David Boston and rookie guard Arron Sears after the team’s first round of OTAs.
Boston has a chance to make the team out of training camp but the odds are likely long. Sears is expected to challenge Anthony Davis to start at left guard.
  • Updating a previous report, the agent for Bucs LG Arron Sears (ankle) expects his client to miss the remainder of the preseason.
Sears, a second-round rookie, injured himself in practice Tuesday. The Bucs, who originally said Sears would only be out for “a couple of days,” have not been honest about injury situations throughout training camp.
  • Tight End
Bucs TE Alex Smith (ankle) returned to practice Sunday.
Smith should be a full go for Week 1. Right tackle Jeremy Trueblood (ankle) and left guard Arron Sears also practiced Sunday and should start.
  • Bucs LG Arron Sears will start on Sunday.
Coach Jon Gruden named the second-round pick his starter over Anthony Davis and Dan Buenning. Sears is recovered from an in-camp ankle injury.
  • Bucs LG Arron Sears will have an MRI on his injured ankle Monday.
The extent of Sears’ injury will be known then, although the Bucs will likely say little about his status. Gamesmanship will be at an all time high this week. The Bucs do have an experienced backup behind him in Anthony Davis.
  • Arron Sears left Sunday’s game in the first quarter with an apparent leg injury.
Sears exited during the Bucs’ first possession and limped to the locker room. Matt Lehr replaced him.
