Patriots are in talks with former Giants HC Ben McAdoo as an offensive assistant.
New England suddenly finds themselves with one of the youngest coaching staffs in the league after parting ways with longtime staple Bill Belichick, which explains the attempt to add a former head coach to their offensive coaching ranks. While the exact title remains uncertain, McAdoo would likely serve as an assistant head coach while advising offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

    Panthers hired OC Ben McAdoo.
Coach Matt Rhule and the organization were transparently seeking out a candidate with prior play-calling experience and McAdoo, having served as the Giants’ coordinator from 2014-2015, brings just that. New York’s offenses ranked 10th- and eighth-overall in yards per scrimmage during those campaigns, seeing McAdoo tossed out into the streets following a promotion to head coach after he was the only human in New York with the wherewithal to bench Eli Manning during a 2-10 season in 2017. McAdoo spent the 2021 season as an offensive consultant for the Cowboys alongside hot stove OC Kellen Moore.

The Athletic’s Joe Person reports the Panthers are interviewing former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
McAdoo was fired by the Giants in 2017 after going 2-10 to open his second year as the team’s head coach. After flaming out in New York, the league has mostly forgotten about McAdoo. His only coaching experience since then has been a one-year stint as the Jaguars’ quarterbacks coach in 2020. He has a handful of interviews to his name in that time as well. McAdoo spent the 2021 season listed as a consultant for the Cowboys. Moving from a Joe Brady to McAdoo in a few short months would seemingly be a step in the wrong direction for a franchise that has struggled to find its footing since moving on from Ron Rivera.

Cowboys hired ex-Jaguars QBs coach Ben McAdoo as offensive consultant.
McAdoo is reuniting with the man who got him a head-coaching job, Mike McCarthy. McAdoo has been bouncing around the fringes of offensive coaching since he was fired by the Giants following the 2017 season. Stranger things have happened, but McAdoo seems unlikely to ever again receive coordinating work, let alone head coaching.

Jaguars hired ex-Giants coach Ben McAdoo as QBs coach.
McAdoo had been out of the coaching ranks since being fired by the Giants in Dec. 2017. He also interviewed for the Panthers’ QBs coach opening. McAdoo made his coaching name as Aaron Rodgers’ QBs coach in 2012-13, though it is obviously difficult to discern how much, if any, credit he deserves for Rodgers’ era-defining play. McAdoo has somewhat of a mess on his hands in Jacksonville with overpaid veteran Nick Foles and streaky sixth-rounder Gardner Minshew.

According to ESPN’s Jake Trotter, former Giants coach Ben McAdoo was seen at the Browns’ facility on Friday.
The nature of his visit is unknown, though it’s possible McAdoo is interviewing for a position on coach Kevin Stefanski’s staff. The Browns have an OC vacancy, although it’s been speculated Stefanski could serve as his own offensive coordinator. McAdoo hasn’t coached since his midseason firing in 2017, but has landed a few interviews during that time including recent sit-downs with Carolina and Jacksonville. The 42-year-old is obviously very familiar with Odell Beckham, who had some of his best seasons under McAdoo in New York.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Jaguars have interviewed ex-Giants coach Ben McAdoo for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
McAdoo has been out of the league since his midseason firing in 2017. The 42-year-old flamed out in spectacular fashion during his less than two-year run atop the Giants’ chain of command, though perhaps he’d fare better in a comparatively lower-stakes coordinating role. The Jaguars are looking to replace fired OC John DeFilippo, who has already resurfaced as a QBs coach for Matt Nagy’s staff in Chicago.

The Athletic’s Joseph Person reports the Panthers have interviewed ex-Giants coach Ben McAdoo and ex-Chargers coach Mike McCoy for their QBs coach vacancy.
Rhule made a splashy hire at offensive coordinator, luring away 30-year-old LSU play-caller Joe Brady. It would appear he wants a steady, experienced NFL hand to serve as a sounding board for his phenom offensive boss. McAdoo has been unemployed in the NFL since his firing by the Giants in 2017.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports ex-Giants coach Ben McAdoo will interview with the Cardinals.
Kliff Kingsbury is reportedly looking to fill out his coaching staff with NFL experience, and McAdoo has been in the league since 2004. He also had some success as the Giants’ offensive coordinator before his disastrous run as head coach.

The Giants will interview Packers QBs coach Ben McAdoo for their offensive coordinator vacancy on Saturday.
McAdoo interviewed for the Browns’ head job Wednesday, but that was thought to be a token, information-gathering meeting. McAdoo is also in the Dolphins’ crosshairs, but will meet with the G-Men first. The Giants’ other two OC interviews have been with ex-Bucs OC Mike Sullivan and ex-Titans OC Dowell Loggains.
