Ravens HC John Harbaugh said Broderick Washington underwent surgery on his Achilles.
According to Harbaugh, Washington didn’t have a torn Achilles, but he was unable to provide a timeline on when the veteran defensive tackle can return. Washington was placed on injured reserve last weekend and will miss at least three more games, but it seems likely he will return well outside of the four-game minimum.

Ravens placed DL Broderick Washington (ankle) on injured reserve.
Washington joins Nnamdi Madubuike on injured reserve, meaning two of three starting defensive linemen in Baltimore’s 3-4 system will now miss the next four games, at minimum. The team has already struggled against the run to start the 2025 season, something that could get worse in the immediate future.
  • BAL Tight End #80
Ravens TE Isaiah Likely (foot) is questionable for Week 4 against the Chiefs.
Team reporter Jeff Zrebiec believes “Likely has a very good chance of making his season debut Sunday” after practicing in full on Friday. In June, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he wants to see Likely be “an All-Pro” this season. The team has handled Likely’s recovery smartly, so they are unlikely to throw caution to the wind. He can only be started as a boom-bust TE2 against the Chiefs. He should be rostered everywhere. Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley (ankle), OLB Kyle Van Noy (hamstring) and NT Travis Jones (knee) are all questionable. Ravens FB Patrick Ricard (calf), DT Broderick Washington (ankle) and DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) have been ruled out. Madubuike leads the team with 10 quarterback pressures and two sacks despite sitting out in Week 3. Madubuike, Washington and Jones anchor Baltimore’s 3-4 defense. Patrick Mahomes should be very comfortable in the pocket this week.

The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec reports that the Ravens’ “entire starting IDL” group did not practice on Wednesday.
The sidelined interior defenders include DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck), DT Broderick Washington and NT Travis Jones. Injury statuses for the latter two players are currently unknown. Ravens OLB Kyle Van Noy (hamstring) also remains sidelined. Madubuike still leads the team with 10 quarterback pressures and two sacks despite sitting out in Week 3. The Ravens need the players to get healthy quickly. They face the Chiefs in Week 4.

Ravens signed DL Broderick Washington to a three-year, $17.5 million contract.
Washington in 2022 started nine games for Baltimore, recording 25 solo tackles. He was arrested in March 2021 and charged with destruction of property in Arlington, Texas, but returned to the Ravens shortly thereafter. Washington, a fifth round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, will likely be a rotational defensive tackle for the Ravens this season.

Ravens DL Broderick Washington was arrested and charged with destruction of property in Arlington, Tex.
Washington was arrested after “multiple reports of a male suspect breaking into vehicles with a metal object” around 4:20 AM on March 14. The Ravens released a statement saying they have “spoken with Broderick about this matter and will continue to monitor the situation.” Reading between the lines, it sounds like an inebriated Washington was vandalizing vehicles. The No. 170 overall pick of last year’s draft, Washington played 161 highly-ineffective rookie snaps.

  • Ravens added six more players to the reserve/COVID-19 list, including starting RT D.J. Fluker
The others include OLB Jaylon Ferguson, OL Will Holden, DT Broderick Washington, CB Tavon Young and CB Khalil Dorsey. That means the Ravens have placed 18 names on the list since Monday, November 23. As of now the Ravens are scheduled to play the Steelers on Tuesday, but seemingly every day more names are added to the list, including on the Steelers’ side.

Ravens signed fifth-round DT Broderick Washington to a four-year contract.
The No. 170 overall pick is the first selection to sign his rookie deal. A three-year starter at Texas Tech, Washington was named All-Big 12 honorable mention three times despite playing under four different coaches. Washington is feisty along the line, using bullrushes on passing downs and occupying space against the run, though his physicality was heightened against Big 12 competition. It may not translate at the next level, especially as a pass-rusher. Dubbed by some as a “future coach,” Washington does have obvious room for growth after being recruited as an offensive lineman.

Ravens selected Texas Tech DT Broderick Washington with the No. 170 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Washington (6’2/305) was a captain and three-year versatile starter at Texas Tech who was an All-Big 12 honorable mention three times despite playing under four different coaches. He’s a physical player, using bullrushes on passing downs and occupying space against the run. However, his physicality was heightened against Big 12 competition and may not completely translate at the next level, especially as a pass-rusher, but he’s been described as a “future coach” and has room for growth after being recruited as an offensive lineman. Washington’s demeanor and physical presence are enough to profile him as a potential rotational lineman in the NFL.
