  • MIA Cornerback #24
South Carolina redshirt junior CB Cameron Smith has excellent numbers in coverage.
The top cornerback on PFF’s big board, Smith (6'0/185) had a fantastic season for the Gamecocks. The most impressive of his stats was the passer rating against. He allowed a passer rating of only 36.5 which is quite impressive considering throwing the ball into the ground would garner a rating of 39.6. If he can match that next season in the SEC, Smith will likely stay atop the leader board all season.

Smith is the second four-star corner to commit to the Gamecocks in the past three days, joining DJ Daniel; a JUCO commit from Georgia Military College. Smith comes from the high school ranks, and was considering offers from Georgia Tech, Florida State and Tennessee -- among others -- before the verbal pledge to South Carolina. He ranks 30th on 247 Sports composite rankings among cornerbacks, and the Blythewood native ranks third among prospects in the state of South Carolina.
