The former Vikings legend will be dressed for Week 12 against the Chiefs. His promotion from the team’s practice squad indicates Matthew Stafford (concussion) is unlikely to play against Kansas City. The Cookus experiment lasted 48 hours — long enough for both Nate Stanley and Kirk Cousins to return from the team’s COVID list. Given Cousins’ stubborn view of the vaccine, it’s possible Cookus, 25, returns at a later date to provide depth. Kellen Mond remains on the team’s COVID list.

It’s an emergency move after three of the team’s quarterbacks (Kirk Cousins included) landed on the COVID list. Undrafted out of Northern Arizona last year, Cookus had a cup of coffee with the Broncos’ and Giants’ practice squads. Jake Browning is Minnesota’s only other quarterback currently available to practice.
