49ers ruled out Nick Bosa (hip/obliques) for Week 13 against the Bills.
Bosa’s dual-oblique/hip injury will sideline him again and the defensive line will also notably be without starting DT Jordan Elliott (concussion), leaving the 49ers defensive-right side of the field awfully short-staffed. Josh Allen’s blindside should be kept clean and the run game will likely be able to impose its will easily, running off of left tackle Dion Dawkins. CB Deommodore Lenoir (knee) is out though CB Charvarius Ward (personal) will return after a three-game absence.

Charvarius Ward (knee) practiced in full Wednesday.
Ward missed Week 6 against the Seahawks, helping Geno Smith throw for 300-plus passing yards for the third time this year. Ward’s return would be a big boost for a 49ers secondary tasked with limiting Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ passing offense in Week 7.
  • SF Defensive Back #7
49ers CB Charvarius Ward (knee) is inactive for Week 6 against the Seahawks.
Ward’s short-week absence leaves the 49ers severely short-handed in the secondary, and turns into a big green light for underdog DK Metcalf and company. Ward seems merely day to day, but the quick turnaround was too much to overcome. We like his chances of being back for Week 7. Joining Ward on the shelf are TE Brayden Willis, LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, DL Jordan Elliott, K Jake Moody, OL Ben Bartch and QB Josh Dobbs.

49ers CB Charvarius Ward (knee) is questionable for Week 6 against the Seahawks.
Ward was on the injury report because of a knee issue earlier this year, so it’s possible the same injury flared back up this week. He didn’t miss any time previously and looks to be on the right side of questionable for Thursday’s game versus Seattle. Ward has four pass breakups and 22 combined tackles this year.

49ers EDGE Nick Bosa (rib) will play in Week 3 against the Rams.
49ers CB Charvarius Ward (hamstring/knee) is also active, and S Talanoa Hufanga (knee) makes his 2024 debut after suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 11, 2023. The three players should make their impact felt against an injury-depleted Rams offense.

49ers CB Charvarius Ward (knee/hamstring) is questionable to play in Week 3 vs. the Rams.
Ward appeared on the Thursday injury report with knee and hamstring injuries, unable to practice. Mid-week additions are never a good sign. He appears to be truly questionable for the occasion and resting him is likely the smart choice, given the Rams’ recent offensive losses.
  • SF Cornerback #7
49ers S Charvarius Ward (core) said he expects to be ready by training camp.
Speaking on Monday, Ward said he is “almost at 100 percent” after undergoing surgery for a core muscle injury after the Super Bowl. Ward reportedly played through the injury for several weeks last season, appearing in all 17 regular-season games while totaling five interceptions and 72 tackles. He received his first Pro Bowl nod for his efforts and appears to be on track to return for training camp, barring any setbacks.

49ers CB Charvarius Ward (groin) is questionable for Week 15 against the Cardinals.
Ward worked off to the side during Friday’s practice once again, meaning he was likely a DNP. Still, the 49ers are leaving the light on for him to take the field this week with the questionable tag. He is dealing with a groin injury that he suffered early in the 49ers’ Week 14 game against the Seahawks. Whether or not Ward is active, Kyler Murray’s rushing potential will keep him in the QB1 conversation for Week 15.
  • SF Cornerback #7
49ers CB Charvarius Ward (groin) did not practice Wednesday.
Ward went down with a groin injury early in the 49ers’ Week 14 win over the Seahawks. He did not return. Ward leads the NFL with 23 pass breakups this year and also has two picks. Though his injury doesn’t appear to be a long-term issue, losing him for a week would be a notable blow to San Francisco’s secondary.

    49ers restructured Charvarius Ward’s contract.
After spending big on defensive tackle Javon Hargrave yesterday, it’s not a surprise to see the 49ers make a move to create cap space today. Per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Ward’s restructure creates just under $10 million in cap space. According to Over the Cap, the 49ers should have roughly $16 million in cap space after the move.
