Giants ruled out OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) for Week 11 against the Packers.
Thibodeaux was visibly in pain last weekend, so his absence is unsurprising. The Giants also ruled out his backup, OLB Chauncey Golston (neck), and listed starting DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches (toe) as doubtful. Two more starters, LB Bobby Okereke (shoulder) and CB Paulson Adebo (knee) are listed as questionable. Good news for the Packers’ offense, which has been heavily scrutinized in recent weeks.

Giants EDGE Brian Burns (hip) is questionable to play in Week 8 against the Eagles.
Burns told reporters that he expects to play on Sunday, which is good news because he managed just one limited practice session this week. Giants rotational EDGE Chauncey Golston has been ruled out with a neck injury of his own. Burns ranks second on the team in quarterback pressures (26) and first in sacks (eight).
  • Giants agreed to terms with EDGE Chauncey Golston, formerly of the Cowboys, on a three-year, $19.5 million contract.
The 2021 third-rounder just wrapped up his rookie contract with something of a breakout campaign, though he’s already 27 years old. Golston notched 5.5 sacks last season after totaling just 4.5 through his first three years in the league. His 790 snaps were also close to double his previous career high. There could be more meat on the bone, but Golston is beyond the typical age of exponential improvement. He is versatile, possessing the bulk to kick inside along the interior in obvious passing situations.
  • Cowboys DE Chauncey Golston will undergo ankle surgery Thursday.
The 84th overall pick in last year’s draft, Golston appeared in 16 games as a rookie, including the Wild Card loss to the 49ers, but registered just one sack on 41% of the snaps as a rotational edge defender.

  • Cowboys selected Iowa DE Chauncey Golston with the No. 84 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Chauncey Golston (6’5/269) received three-star billing while being rated as the 41st strong side defensive end in the 2016 prep class. Golston committed to Iowa early on in his recruitment and never wavered. He took some time to develop, playing sparsely during his first two seasons and didn’t make a major impact until his fifth year on campus. A team captain and tireless worker, Golston steadily improved his skill set each year. Last season he emerged by registering a team-leading 5.5 sacks, 45 tackles, and 8.5 tackles for loss while receiving first team All-Big Ten accolades. He tested adequately, running a 4.83 40-yard dash with strong jumping marks and a 7.58 RAS, but posted poor scores on his shuttle (31st percentile) and 3-cone (38th). Golston makes up for lack of explosiveness with hustle and physicality. He’ll join a Dallas defensive line graded by PFF as the league’s tenth best pass rushing unit in 2020.
