    Chiefs released TE Robert Tonyan.
The Chiefs cut Tonyan after signing him to a one-year deal this offseason. However, Kansas City Star’s Sam McDowell reports the plan is for Tonyan to return to the team. The Chiefs also released LB Cole Christiansen, S Mike Edwards, DT Mike Pennel, and DT Marlon Tuipulotu. They also waived CB Elijhah Badger, DE Owen Carney, CB Ajani Carter, T Dalton Cooper, S Jacobe Covington, WR Mac Dalena, T Chukwuebuka Godrick, G C.J. Hanson, CB Azizi Hearn, WR Jimmy Holiday, DT Coziah Izzard, LB Cam Jones, CB Kevin Knowles, C Joey Lombard, DT Fabien Lovett, DE Nate Matlack, S Glendon Miller, LB Xander Mueller, QB Chris Oladokun, T Esa Pole, WR Hal Presley, WR Key’Shawn Smith, CB Melvin Smith, TE Geor’Quarius Spivey, TE Tre Watson, RB Michael Wiley, and S Major Williams.
  • KC Defensive Tackle #93
Chiefs released DT Matt Dickerson and re-signed LB Cole Christiansen.
Dickerson has appeared in 36 games during his five-year NFL career. The Chiefs released Dickerson last August to make room for waiver claims but he ultimately re-signed with the team, appearing in 12 contests with the team. We could see a similar outcome unfold this time around, although nothing is certain this early in the league year. Kansas City re-signed LB Cole Christiansen in a corresponding move.
  • KC Linebacker #48
Army senior LB Cole Christiansen has accepted his invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Christiansen (6'2/225) is a two-time team captain who was named a 2018 First Team All-Independent League selection. In ten games this season he has posted 99 tackles, 58 solo, 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles for the Black Knights as the enforcer of their defense. Christiansen isn’t viewed as having the requisite athleticism to hold down a LB job in the NFL, however he could hang around as a special teams player if he gets the right UDFA opportunity. Army travels to play Hawaii this Saturday.
