Ravens waived DT Lamar Divens and RB Curtis Steele.
Both failed their physicals to open camp. The Ravens are probably glad Divens did, because he had a $1.2 million salary. Steele was a camp-body type.
  • BAL Running Back
    Ravens waived RB Curtis Steele.
Steele raised eyebrows during offseason workouts, but he was never going to beat out Jalen Parmele. Look for the undrafted free agent to land on the Ravens’ practice squad.
  • BAL Quarterback
Ravens signed QB Hunter Cantwell, RB Curtis Steele, WR Justin Harper, OL Andre Ramsey, OL Brady Bond, LB Albert McClellan, and CB Danny Gorrer to reserve/future contracts.
Cantwell never came close to making the Panthers’ roster last summer after coaches spent the offseason singing his praises. Steele, undrafted out of Memphis last spring, has an outside chance to make the 2011 roster if Willis McGahee is cut, as expected.
  • BAL Running Back
Undrafted Memphis RB Curtis Steele has caught the eye of the Baltimore Sun’s Mike Preston.
Steele averaged 1,231 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns the past two seasons at Memphis, and he’s shown outstanding hands in OTAs. At 6'0/190, he’s built more like a wiry strong receiver than a traditional runner. He can’t match Jalen Parmele’s kick return experiences, which means he’s likely ticketed for the practice squad even if he impresses this summer.
