Eagles agreed to terms on a one-year contract with TE Dallas Goedert.
The two sides have been working hard to make this happen, having agreed to postpone the void date on Goedert’s expiring contract twice in the last week. Re-signing Goedert keeps him on board through the 2026 season and allows the Eagles to spread out the $20.5 million cap hit they were set to absorb. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo previously suggested that the Eagles can’t pay Goedert if they keep A.J. Brown, and they can’t take both salary cap hits. One domino has fallen. Only time will tell if Garafolo was correct. Stay tuned.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo believes the Eagles can’t pay Dallas Goedert if they keep A.J. Brown, and they can’t take both salary cap hits.
Earlier today, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that “the Eagles will not trade A.J. Brown at this time.” Garafolo said he “does not sense real momentum right now,” but he believes general manager Howie Roseman will engage in potential trade talks over the weekend. The Eagles face $20.5 million in dead money if they allow Goedert’s contract to expire at the new void deadline on Monday. Signing him to a new deal would allow them to spread some of that $20.5 million around to other years. Brown carries a cap hit greater than $23 million this year. Releasing him pre-June 1 would result in more than $72 million in dead money and a loss of $49 million in cap room. Per Over The Cap, the Eagles build team-friendly trade windows into their contracts. If the Eagles trade Brown before June 1st, the dead money drops to $48.939 million and the cap hit drops to $25.5 million. The two players’ futures with the team “are interconnected.”

The Athletic’s Zach Berman reports the Eagles have pushed back Dallas Goedert’s void date to Monday.
On Wednesday, the Eagles bumped Goedert’s void date back to today. The two sides are attempting to negotiate an extension that would keep Goedert, 31, in an Eagles uniform. It is clear that both sides would like to come to an agreement, but it is possible that Goedert is pricing himself out of the Eagles’ salary cap comfort zone. At the end of the day, it seems likely that they will work something out.

The Athletic’s Zach Berman reports the Eagles have pushed back Dallas Goedert’s void date to Friday.
Goedert was set to become a free agent, but the sides are trying to hammer out a new deal. All but traded by the Eagles last year, a deal never quite came to fruition, and then 30-year-old Goedert had one of his best overall campaigns. With A.J. Brown’s Eagles future remaining up in the air, losing Goedert could be a luxury the Eagles can no longer afford. The fact that Goedert has willingly pushed back the date strongly suggests an agreement will get done.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman said they’ll talk to Dallas Goedert’s agent in the coming days.
That’s not necessarily a guarantee something will get done, but it’s not like the Eagles have better options on the roster than Goedert after his 11-touchdown regular season. The 31-year-old should be a decent bet for low-end TE1 status in a return to Philadelphia, should it happen.

The Athletic’s Zach Berman believes Dallas Goedert will “play elsewhere” in 2026.
Goedert and the Eagles danced around a separation for most of last offseason, including trade rumors around the NFL Draft, but Philadelphia couldn’t find a real replacement for the 31-year-old tight end. An impending free agent, we’d expect Goedert to have an interesting market but he might struggle to land a multi-year deal considering his advanced age.
  • FA Head Coach
The Philadelphia Inquirer’s David Murphy believes former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is the “perfect” offensive coordinator candidate for the Eagles.
After firing offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo following a mostly disastrous 2025 season, the Eagles should seek “a fresh set of eyes” to reevaluate the Philly offense and how it utilizes its skill position players, Murphy said. McDaniel, who designed and called plays for a Miami offense that ranked among the NFL’s most efficient from 2022 to 2024 — before the team’s 2025 collapse. Eagles players, including DeVonta Smith, said after the team’s Wild Card loss to the 49ers that the offensive scheme had not changed at all in recent years despite the Eagles shuffling through offensive coordinators. That suggests the problem lies with head coach Nick Sirianni. “Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie pride themselves on being ahead of the curve. They’d rather be a year early than a year late,” Murphy said. “Right now, it is getting late early. McDaniel or not, they need a new voice, an inventive mind, and a fresh set of eyes. Anybody else will end up right where Patullo is. And that’s not fair to anybody.”
  • PHI Tight End #88
Dallas Goedert caught 4-of-7 targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ Wild Card loss to the 49ers, adding a one-yard rushing score.
Coming off a career-best regular season scoring binge as he led all tight ends with 11 touchdown receptions, Goedert added two more after turning 31 eight days ago. Although his receiving efficiency waned somewhat in 2025, Goedert had the best season of his career when it came to making big plays. In addition to the scores, he was constantly extending drives with first down grabs. It makes him a fascinating offseason case, as he is headed to free agency after restructuring his contract last spring. With A.J. Brown seemingly on the outs in Philadelphia, perhaps Goedert actually ends up returning after he somehow avoided a 2025 trade. Wherever he ends up, Goedert seems likely to stick in the low-end TE1 ranks.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) is not on Philadelphia’s final Wild Card injury report.
The veteran tight end got in a full session and should be good to go against the 49ers. He figures to be involved in Philadelphia’s red zone packages, as he was all season, even if the shape of the Eagles passing game has otherwise failed to get him enough targets to be fantasy-interesting. Goedert cleared 50 yards just twice in 15 starts this year.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) was limited on Thursday.
Goedert, 31, is now up to two limited sessions in the lead-up to the Eagles’ Wild Card Round game against the 49ers. We expect Goedert to suit up. Although we would like to see him practicing fully, the team could just be limiting the veteran player’s reps.
