    Texans signed OL Dan Stevenson.
Stevenson can play center and guard, but is only backup material.
  • Texans waived/injured OL Dan Stevenson.
The Notre Dame alum doesn’t appear to have a future in the league.
  • Patriots signed sixth-round G Dan Stevenson to a four-year contract.
Stevenson played for Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. Weis compared him to former Patriot Joe Andruzzi. He could play guard and center.
  • Texans G Dan Stevenson revealed that coach Gary Kubiak ran live contact drills at 2008 minicamps despite players not wearing pads.
Stevenson will be cut shortly, although he says a labrum tear sustained in the workouts might end his career anyway. Three Texans suffered season-ending injuries in last year’s minicamps, including Jordan Black (shoulder) and Chukky Okobi (triceps). Stevenson and Black have filed grievances.
  • Punishment for the Texans conducting non-padded hitting drills during minicamp season could be as severe as losing a fourth-round pick.
Commissioner Roger Goodell needs to send a message and take away a pick so teams don’t continue doing this. It’s common practice. If found guilty (which they are), the Texans will at least lose a round of OTAs and face a fine.
  • Patriots released G Dan Stevensen and CB Antwain Spann.
New England will likely sign Stevensen to the practice squad. He was a sixth-round pick this year.
