The 49ers interviewed defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks for their defensive coordinator vacancy.
Bullocks played safety in the NFL for four seasons. He coached college ball for a few years after retiring and joined the NFL ranks in 2016. The 49ers hired him a year later and he has been with the team ever since. Kyle Shanahan went with an outsider in Steve Wilks as his defensive coordinator last year. The move was a flop and Wilks was fired at the end of the season. Bullocks, who has spent nearly the entirety of his coaching career at the pro ranks as a member of the 49ers, would be a good fit for the team’s defensive coordinator vacancy.

Lions FS Daniel Bullocks made seven tackles in Friday night’s game.
He also recovered a fumble. Bullocks, competing to start with Terrence Holt, is expected to win the job and could be solid rookie IDP target.

Lions FS Daniel Bullocks moved up to the first unit in Detroit practices.
It appears the rookie second-rounder passed Terrence Holt on the depth chart. The Lions expect Bullocks to stay in the starting role for a few years.

Lions FS Daniel Bullocks started Friday’s preseason game.
He’s likely officially passed Terrence Holt on the depth chart. A rookie, Bullocks is known for stopping the run and could be a nice dynasty IDP.

Marquand Manuel ran as the Lions’ first-team strong safety at the team’s first post-draft minicamp.
Marvin White was No. 2 on the depth chart, and Daniel Bullocks ran with the third team. The trio must have failed to impress because C.C. Brown was signed right after the minicamp. All four safeties are on the roster bubble.

Lions S Daniel Bullocks (knee surgery) admitted that he’s still not at 100 percent.
Bullocks was shut down early in training camp last season after his surgically repaired knee acted up. He ended up getting more surgery and the recovery has been complicated. The Lions have been adding quantity at the safety spot, meaning Bullocks better get healthy if he wants a shot at the roster.

Jaguars hired ex-Lions S Daniel Bullocks as assistant DBs coach.
Bullocks, 33, was the 40th overall pick in the 2006 draft and part of ex-Lions GM Matt Millen’s god-awful draft history. Bullocks played just 31 career games before knee injuries, particularly microfracture surgery, shut him down for good.
  • DET Defensive Back
Kenoy Kennedy may lose playing time to rookie Gerald Alexander and Daniel Bullocks if the Lions fall out of the playoff race late in the season.
Kennedy isn’t a particularly good fit for the Cover 2 scheme and isn’t the hitter he once was. Daniel Bullocks is naturally a strong safety, so getting him time there would likely be the best for Detroit if it’s clearly out of the playoff hunt.

Lions signed second-round DB Gerald Alexander to a four-year contract.
Alexander, a Boise State product, could evolve into either a cornerback or a safety down the line but will play the latter position initially. Ideally, he’d be the Lions’ free safety of the future with Daniel Bullocks on the strong side.

Lions FS Daniel Bullocks will undergo an MRI on Sunday after injuring his right knee in the team’s exhibition game Saturday night.
Coach Rod Marinelli hinted that the starter’s injury could be serious. Rookie second-round pick Gerald Alexander is behind him on the depth chart.
