    A tackle at Georgia Tech, Richard will convert to end in the Pats’ 3-4 after collecting 10 tackles for loss and four sacks as a senior Yellow Jacket. He also boasts impressive intelligence; Richard got a 37 on The Wonderlic.

    This is an obvious sign that the Patriots are happy with the progress their seventh-round rookie is making. It could also mean that another team made an attempt to sign Richard.

    Rowe, a fifth-round pick in 2007, will stick around for the offseason program as the No. 3 quarterback. Also signed off the practice squad: TE Robbie Agnone, TE Rob Myers, DL Adrian Grady, DL Darryl Richard and WR Darnell Jenkins.

    The Patriots did a good job of keeping Richard and S Bret Lockett’s injuries quiet. It’s believed Richard’s was to his foot, but nothing else is known.

    Richard was a seventh-round pick in 2009. He was originally drafted to play defensive end in the 3-4, but the Pats are moving forward with a 4-3 defense. Woods and Berry were UDFAs. Butler played college ball at Michigan.
