Chargers re-signed DB Deane Leonard to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Leonard played in eight games last season and has totaled 13 tackles and three pass breakups since 2024 while playing almost exclusively on special teams. His return provides valuable depth for the Chargers and their special teams unit.
  • LAC Cornerback #33
Chargers activated DB Deane Leonard (hamstring) from injured reserve.
Leonard’s practice window was opened 12 days ago. He’ll be back after missing all but five defensive snaps so far this year. They also signed Eli Apple to the active roster. It’s an infusion of DB depth ahead of Monday’s game against the Ravens.
  • LAC Defensive Back #33
Deane Leonard exited Week 6 against the Broncos with a hamstring injury.
The Chargers’ secondary entered Week 6 short-staffed and Leonard’s absence further complicates the matter. Bo Nix may be able to get the downfield passing game going.
  • LAC Defensive Back #33
Chargers selected Ole Miss DB Deane Leonard with the No. 236 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Leonard ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at the Ole Miss Pro Day -- that’ll get you noticed. He hails from Calgary and helped his school (Calgary) win the Vanier Cup before transferring to Ole Miss as a senior. He was picked 18th overall in the 2021 CFL draft and defensed seven passes last season for the Rebels. Leonard projects as competition for the bottom of the Chargers corner depth chart.
