Ravens hired Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle as their offensive coordinator.
It’s a bit of a surprise because Doyle removed his name from consideration for the Eagles job ... but this is Lamar Jackson. The Ravens were able to interview Doyle for a “lateral” move by giving him control of the playcalling. Doyle, who was on Sean Payton’s staff in Denver before being poached by Ben Johnson to the offensive coordinator role, has some powerful roots in some of the NFL’s best offenses. He also has never called plays before and was born in 1996, so there is some risk here. The Ravens are betting on pedigree. We’ll be fascinated to see what Doyle says at his introductory presser, as Baltimore’s focus on offense could raise or lower ceilings for some of the most high-profile players in the fantasy game.

Ravens requested an interview with Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Doyle withdrew from the Eagles search despite the lateral move technically improving his standing by letting him call plays. We’ll see if he’s interested in actually interviewing for this one. Hard to do much better as a playcaller than starting off with Lamar Jackson, even if the Jackson we saw late last season was not playing up to his MVP standard of 2023 and 2024.

Bears offensive coordinator has removed his name from the Eagles’ offensive-coordinator search.
Doyle won’t be making the lateral move to Philly. The opportunity to join the Eagles did come with play-calling duties, something Doyle doesn’t have in Chicago, but the 30-year-old coach who landed his first OC role this offseason will remain with the Bears for 2026, taking more time to learn under Ben Johnson.

Eagles requested an interview with Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
While it’s a lateral move on the surface, Doyle doesn’t call plays in Chicago and would do so in Philly. That also means that the Bears can’t turn down the Eagles’ request to interview Doyle. Chicago finished the year ninth in points per game and made their deepest playoff run since 2010. Most importantly, Caleb Williams showed drastic improvement in his second season after Ben Johnson and Doyle took over the offense. The Eagles would hope to get a similar turnaround from Jalen Hurts, who is coming off a career-low in yards per attempt.

Bears hired former Broncos TE coach Declan Doyle as their offensive coordinator.
The Bears hired former Saints defensive coordinator (2015-2021) and head coach (2022-2024) Dennis Allen moments before bringing Doyle aboard as well. Doyle served as a Saints offensive assistant from 2019-2022, studying under then-head coach Sean Payton through the first three seasons, before being reunited with Payton in Denver in 2023. Payton’s system and staffers evidently made a strong impression on new Bears head coach Ben Johnson. The 28-year-old Doyle has rapidly risen through the NFL’s coaching ranks in just six seasons. Should Doyle find success in year one under Johnson, it would be unsurprising to see him receive head coaching buzz shortly thereafter.
  • Bears interviews Broncos TE coach Declan Doyle for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
Doyle was hired by Sean Payton to replace the departing Joe Brady in New Orleans before bringing him on in Denver. At just 28 years old, Doyle could become one of the youngest offensive coordinators in the league as he’s considered one of the top candidates to join Ben Johnson’s staff in Chicago.
