Giants agreed to terms with LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, formerly of the 49ers.
Flannigan-Fowles functions primarily as a special teams player. He contributes minimally on defense, having totaled single-digit tackles in each of the last three seasons. He earned a career-best 76.6 PFF special teams grade last year though and should make his presence felt in New York.
  • 49ers re-signed LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to a one-year contract.
A core special teamer, Flannigan-Fowles is also a role player in the middle of the 49ers’ defense.
  • 49ers re-signed LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to a one-year contract.
Another non-tender re-signing to keep costs down, Flannigan-Fowles is probably in line for expanded work in 2023 after Azeez Al-Shaair left for the Titans in free agency. It’s possible Flannigan-Fowles could win a competition for the No. 3 LB spot with Oren Burks, but probably unlikely based on how the two of them were seen last season.

  • 49ers re-signed CB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to a one-year contract.
Flannigan-Fowles will be under contract through 2022, and he’ll be up for restricted free agency in 2023. He emerged as a core special teamer for the 49ers last year, playing 75% of the special teams snaps. He only played more than 20 defensive snaps in two 2021 games, and played more as a dimebacker than a true defensive back.
