Garcia has struggled to establish any chemistry, except with Northcutt. If Northcutt can stay on the field more, we like him as a reserve receiver in fantasy leagues.

He’s a useful receiver who just manages to fall below the fantasy radar. Depending on how Cleveland wants to use him, Northcutt could be draftable in 2005.

Northcutt’s agent made a similar error, but clearly missed the deadline that was outlined in Northcutt’s contract. The Browns may throw Northcutt a bone and give him a decent contract or attempt to trade him. Most likely, he’s stuck in Cleveland.

Northcutt, who is stuck in Cleveland because of a paperwork snafu, should gather some interest around the league. The talented wideout could make an excellent second or third receiver.

The Ravens reportedly don’t want to give up a top draft pick to obtain the wide receiver. He’d help Baltimore quite a bit, but a deal isn’t likely soon. If there was any doubt in the matter, Northcutt’s agent said, “Dennis Northcutt will never play for the Cleveland Browns again, under any circumstances.”

Northcutt and Cleveland have been involved in a nasty dispute since his agent failed to file the proper paperwork to become a free agent. There aren’t any teams currenly working on trade for Northcutt.

The Browns are offering $14 million for four years with a $2.5 million bonus. Northcutt probably won’t get what he’s looking for, but don’t expect him to be a Brown next season.

The Browns don’t really want to trade Northcutt, who is stuck with the team after failing to file his free agency papers. He is looking for a three-year deal. His return would seriously hurt Andre Davis and Quincy Morgan’s fantasy value.

"[His role] is probably going to grow. We expect Dennis’ career to continue to improve and take off in future years. He’s competing for a starting job,” Davis said. Northcutt could be a valuable late pick for a fantasy receiver, especially if beats out Quincy Morgan or Andre Davis for a starting job.

''He doesn’t have to give Braylon (Edwards) a run for his money,’' coach Romeo Crennel said. ''Braylon has to do the running.’' Northcutt has some WR5/6 value in points-per-reception leagues whether he’s the starter or slot receiver.
