A 131-game starter for the Giants, Eagles, and Bengals, Jones finishes his career with 616 tackles. Although he’ll likely continue his adventures on the Travel Channel, Jones may find his way into the NFL analysis business in the long run. He’s a natural on television.

Jones hopes to play the final preseason game. The undersized linebacker takes over for Carlos Emmons this season on the strong side.

Jones will help on special teams. He replaces Andre Frazier.

Jones was in the NFL Network studio to announce the signing himself on Thursday. Cut by the Eagles in late April, Jones didn’t get much action on the free agent market. The outside linebacker isn’t a lock to make the team.

Jones started 16 games in 2006 with the Eagles. That he couldn’t make the Saints shows how poor the Birds’ situation on the strong side really was.
