There have been preliminary discussions between the Dolphins, the Titans and the NFL about the possibility of moving or postponing the season opener Sunday.
The path of Hurricane Ivan will determine what action is taken. Some outlets have reported the game could be moved to Nashville, but the Dolphins don’t want to lose a home game. The stadiums in Jacksonville and Tampa are available, again depending on the path Ivan takes. One interesting scenario has the teams playing a Thursday game between Weeks Nine and Ten. The Titans have a bye in Week Nine, and the Dolphins are off in Week 10, so that would be manageable. Fantasy owners need to stay tuned to the latest here. If the game is postponed, treat it as a bye week for Titan and Dolphin players and be ready to go with reserves.

The path of Hurrican Ivan currently does not look like it will hit Miami.
Thankful news for the citizens of Florida. The Titans/Dolphins game remains scheduled for Sunday at 1 PM.

Tonight’s Dolphins/Saints preseason game may be canceled because of a possible player boycott.
Junior Seau, Olindo Mare, Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor were among the players who told Dolphins management that they didn’t want to play because Hurricane Frances may hit South Florida today. Dolphins management pushed to cancel the game, but the NFL league office turned them down. The Dolphins are scheduled to leave on a flight this morning for New Orleans, but don’t want to leave their families behind with a storm coming.

Dolphins GM Rick Spielman has reportedly been promised he’ll keep his job through next season.
Really? Spielman has made the worst moves possible since taking over. He traded a second-round pick for A.J. Feeley instead of waiting for the QB market to shake out, he traded a fourth-rounder to move up one spot for bust tackle Vernon Carey, and he traded another top pick for Lamar Gordon. We guess the promise to Spielman isn’t set in stone, and that the team will still go after Patriots boss Scott Pioli.

Mike Shanahan, Mike Martz, and Mike Holmgren are three experienced names already rumored for the Dolphins job.
Each would only be interested and available if their current situations didn’t work. But make no mistake, the Miami job is still one of the best in football. A great franchise and nowhere to go but up.

Jim Fassell isn’t interested in becoming Miami’s offensive coordinator.
Fassell will hunt down head coaching jobs. If he doesn’t get one, he may work for Brian Billick as the coordinator in Baltimore.

The Dolphins signed offensive line coach Hudson Houck to a two-year contract Tuesday.
Great line coach, terrible movie. Houck was with the Chargers last season.

Dolphins hired former Vikings offensive coordinator Scott Linehan as their new offensive coordinator.
Linehan, considered one of the brightest young minds in the league, got a huge raise and considerably more security with the Dolphins. It’s especially good news for Chris Chambers and Marty Booker. Now all the team needs is a quarterback.

The Dolphins have identified Minnesota’s Scott Linehan as their top choice for their next offensive coordinator.
Join the club. The soon to be coaching free agent is wanted by the Vikings, Jacksonville, Miami, and possibly the Patriots.

Multiple sources told the Miami Herald that former offensive coordinator Joel Collier’s decision to step down last week wasn’t just because of health reasons.
Collier and new QB coach Marc Trestman have reportedly been butting heads. The Dolphins lead the league in bad vibes this offseason by a wide margin.
