  • CLE Running Back #21
Browns signed RB D’Onta Foreman, formerly of the Bears.
Coming off the heels of a productive season in Carolina, Foreman signed a one-year deal with the Bears last offseason. Chicago then drafted Roschon Johnson and didn’t seem to have much interest in playing Foreman. The veteran back was a healthy scratch early in the season, saw some midseason run because of injuries ahead of him on the depth chart, and then closed the year as a healthy scratch once again. He totaled 425 yards and four scores on 109 attempts. A powerful runner who is hard to bring down on first contact, Foreman makes sense as a bargain bin stand-in for Nick Chubb, who is currently recovering from a season-ending knee injury. Coming off multiple surgeries to repair knee damage including a torn ACL, it’s unclear when Chubb will be able to play again. Foreman will likely split the Cleveland backfield with Jerome Ford until Chubb is back in action.

D’Onta Foreman is inactive for Week 18 against the Packers.
Foreman signed a one-year deal to play for the Bears in 2023 and finishes with 109 carries for 425 yards and four rushing touchdowns, adding 11 receptions for 77 yards and a receiving touchdown. He ends his season with back-to-back healthy scratches after missing Week 16 with a personal issue. Foreman appeared in nine games, often a healthy scratch when Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson were both active and healthy. He was a useful RB2 for fantasy with Herbert out from Weeks 6-10. Now the veteran will enter free agency, looking to join a team in need of a bruiser back.

Khalil Herbert (back/personal) is questionable for Week 18 against the Packers.
Herbert was added to the injury report on Thursday because of the back issue. he was a limited participant in practice before being downgraded to a DNP on Friday. The Bears included the “personal” designation on his injury report as well. If he can’t suit up, the Bears would be down to Roschon Johnson and D’Onta Foreman for Week 18. Johnson was a healthy scratch last week, so we would expect Johnson to see the bulk of the carries.

D’Onta Foreman is inactive for Week 17 against the Falcons.
It’s a healthy scratch for Foreman after he was out with a personal issue in Week 16. Perhaps the sides are at something of a loggerheads. Foreman is the Bears’ best pure runner, but his absence makes the backfield more coherent. Khalil Herbert should again operate as the touch leader with rookie Roschon Johnson “changing the pace.” Neither are a particularly appealing FLEX option with everything on the line, though Herbert is the priority.

D’Onta Foreman (personal) practiced in full for Week 17 against the Falcons.
Foreman missed Week 16 for personal reasons but was on the practice field today. Head coach Matt Eberflus said, “Everything is squared away.” His return will make the Bears’ backfield a three-man committee once again. We wouldn’t trust any one of the three for the final week of the fantasy season.

Bears declared RB D’Onta Foreman, QB Nathan Peterman, LB Noah Sewell, WR Equanimeous St. Brown, S Quindell Johnson, and G Teven Jenkins inactive for Week 16 against the Cardinals.
Foreman was not expected to play due to a personal issue. That leaves Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert as Chicago’s top backs against a poor Arizona rush defense. Johnson will likely take on lead back duties and is worthy of flex consideration.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports D’Onta Foreman (personal) is not expected to play in Week 16 against the Cardinals.
Foreman missed Thursday’s practice for personal reasons but was back on the field for a limited session on Friday. He was then listed as questionable. Sansa Foreman, the Bears will narrow their backfield to a two-man committee. Roschon Johnson’s role as a pass-catcher makes him the preferred option to Khalil Herbert for Week 16. Herbert out-carried Johnson 6-5 last week but the latter picked up an additional four receptions. Johnson ranks as a low-end RB3 for Week 16. Fantasy managers can avoid Herbert altogether.

D’Onta Foreman (personal) is questionable for Week 16 against the Cardinals.
Foreman missed Thursday’s practice for a personal reason but was back for a limited session on Friday. He looks likely to suit up this week. Coming off a six-carry outing in Week 15, Foreman is not on the fantasy radar, active or not.

Bears RB D’Onta Foreman (personal) did not practice Thursday.
This is the first we’ve heard of the veteran running back’s personal matter, but things don’t seem overly serious at present. Keep an eye on Foreman’s status on the team’s injury report Friday for further updates.

D’Onta Foreman had six rushes for -6 yards in the Bears’ Week 15 loss against the Browns.
To say the Bears’ rushing attack was shut down would be something of an understatement. Chicago eventually gave up trying to run the ball and went pass heavy in the second half, taking Foreman off the field in favor of Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert. Foreman will be in a much more favorable spot next week against a terrible Arizona rush defense.
