Saints hired Eagles QBs coach Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator.
Long considered as the favorite to land the job, Nussmeier, who was drafted by the Saints in 1994, will now follow Kellen Moore to New Orleans in hopes of revitalizing a Saints team that finished 5-12 last season. Nussmeier and Moore worked closely from 2020 to 2022 as members of the Cowboys, in 2023 while with the Chargers, and last season with the Eagles, which should make for a seamless transition for all involved. Nussmeier last served as an offensive coordinator in 2017 while with the University of Florida, but also had coordinator stops at the collegiate ranks at Fresno State, Washington, Alabama, and Michigan. While Nussmeier is now in place, it’s worth restating that Moore is expected to serve as the primary play-caller in what should be a new-look Saints offense.

Josina Anderson reports the Saints are working to finalize a deal with Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Nick Underhill named Nussmeier the favorite for the job earlier in the day. It seems like but a matter of time before Kellen Moore lands his quarterbacks coach in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia as New Orleans’ offensive coordinator. Moore has already asserted in his introductory presser that he’ll call the plays, so Nussmeier will be involved in the process but not make the actual decisions on a down-to-down basis.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Saints will interview Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Nussmeier was tagged as a “person of interest” for the Saints by Rapoport last week and will interview with New Orleans for their offensive coordinator vacancy under Kellen Moore. Nussmeier has been Moore’s quarterbacks coach in several stops (Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia) and would be an obvious candidate for an elevation here to keep working with the new Saints head honcho. Rapoport says that Nussmeier is a “top candidate.”
  • PHI Coaching Staff
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier is a “strong candidate to have a big role” on the New Orleans offensive staff under Kellen Moore.
“Perhaps offensive coordinator,” Rapoport adds. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has made some noise about blocking assistants from leaving today but with an elevation, he’d have no way to block Nussmeier moving to the Saints. Nussmeier has been Moore’s quarterbacks coach with the Cowboys, Chargers, and Eagles. He has not been a candidate for any prominent external jobs that we’ve written about since interviewing for the Ravens offensive coordinator gig in 2023.
  • Eagles hired Doug Nussmeier as their QB coach.
Nussmeier followed Kellen Moore from the Cowboys to the Chargers, serving as the quarterbacks coach at each stop. He now accepts the same position for the Eagles after the team hired Moore.
  • NO Offensive Coordinator
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports Chargers hired Cowboys QB coach Doug Nussmeier as their QB coach.
Nussmeier interviewed for the Ravens OC job earlier this offseason, but Todd Monken was officially given the job earlier today. He’s been with the Cowboys since 2018 and was an in-house candidate to take over for Scott Linehan back in his early days. He’ll help Moore establish the new offense in Los Angeles with Justin Herbert.

  • NO Offensive Coordinator
ESPN’s Todd Archer reports the Ravens interviewed Cowboys quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier for their offensive coordinator role.
Nussmeier has spent the last five seasons with the Cowboys and the last three as the team’s quarterbacks coach. A former fourth-round quarterback from the 1994 NFL Draft, Nussmeier has spent more time coaching in the college ranks than he has the NFL, with his first NFL gig coming in 2006 as the Rams quarterbacks coach. He’s one of several candidates the Ravens have interviewed for their offensive coordinator vacancy, as the team looks to find its way forward without Greg Roman.

  • NO Offensive Coordinator
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Cowboys TE coach Doug Nussmeier could replace Scott Linehan as offensive coordinator.
Nussmeier is the top in-house candidate to take over for Linehan. A former quarterback, Nussmeier has previous coordinating experience at the college level. The Cowboys have also been linked to Georgia OC James Coley.
