Eli Manning was not elected in his first year on the ballot. Gates is widely viewed as one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the sport, and finished his career with 955 receptions and 116 receiving touchdowns. Sharpe — brother of tight end Shannon Sharpe — was dominant before his career ended short due to a neck injury, retiring after amassing 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns in 112 starts. Jared Allen was a four-time first-team All-Pro for the Chiefs and Vikings, leading the league in sacks twice and becoming one of three players (with T.J. Watt and Justin Houston) to notch 22 or more sacks in a season since 2001. Eric Allen was a stalwart corner for the Eagles, Raiders, and Saints. His 54 interceptions are tied for 21st in NFL history, and he had eight career pick-sixes.

The Giants sent a large contingent, including coach Tom Coughlin. Manning will hold a private workout for the San Diego Chargers later this week. His fantasy prospects may hinge on the Bolts trading down.

“It was one of the better throws I’ve seen,” Hilliard said. "... to actually be a part of it and hit me in stride and that kind of thing is an unbelievable throw.” With a good performance this weekend, we’re guessing Eli will be the man in New York.

Kurt Warner has struggled lately, so the Eli Manning speculations is in full swing in New York. The fact Coughlin admitted that he considered bringing Manning in last game doesn’t help. Warner needs to improve to keep his job.

He finally gets an easier opponent in the Bengals this weekend.

The Giants hold the fourth pick in the draft and would have to send a package of picks or players to move up three spots. The Chargers trade of David Boston creates a need at WR they could fill at the #4 spot.

Despite the rumors, it still appears quite likely that San Diego will draft Eli on Saturday. Whether he chooses to be photographed while wearing their baseball hat is another story.

He certainly looked better Friday night. When asked if Manning took the lead in the competition, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said, “not necessarily, no.” Look for Manning to start the next preseason game.

“I went though rookie years with Bernie Kosar and Bert Jones, and Kosar was awfully savvy. But I’ve never seen anything like this.” Then why would they sit him on the bench?
