Lions designated CB Emmanuel Moseley (pectoral) to return from injured reserve.
Moseley and S Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle/Achilles) had their 21-day practice windows activated today and both should return in the coming weeks, boosting a Lions defense that took a big hit when it lost star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson (leg) in Week 6. The front office also notably traded for Za’Darius Smith earlier this week. Smith’s addition, plus the two returning defensive backs suddenly have this defense on the upswing.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley suffered a torn pectoral and is out indefinitely.
It’s a disappointing setback for Moseley, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 1 last year and missed the entire season. Now, Moseley will almost certainly land on injured reserve in the coming days and will be out for an extended period of time while recovering from this injury. Moseley is facing added competition for snaps, with the Lions adding Ennis Rakestraw and Terrion Arnold in this year’s draft. Moseley has played in just 17 games since 2021 after also suffering a torn ACL in 2022. Hopefully, he can move past this latest injury and return in time to play out most of the season.

Lions re-signed CB Emmanuel Moseley to a one-year contract.
Moseley signed a one-year deal with the Lions last offseason but tore his ACL in his Week 1 debut. With the Lions still interested in seeing what the soon-to-be 28-year-old corner can add to their defense, the two sides have opted to reunite on a one-year deal, giving Moseley a chance to work his way into the fold next season. Through his first five NFL seasons, Moseley started in 33 of 45 games with the 49ers, totaling 162 tackles and four interceptions. Playing in a Lions’ secondary that is still in need of help, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Moseley earn significant playing time if he’s fully recovered from his injury.

Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley suffered a torn ACL in the team’s Week 5 win over the Panthers.
Absolutely brutal. Moseley’s torn ACL comes in his first game back after he suffered a torn ACL last season. While this injury is to his other knee, it doesn’t soften the blow for a player who spent all offseason battling his way back from injury. Moseley’s season is seemingly over before it ever began, as he’ll now look to rehab in time to return for 2024.
  • DET Cornerback #4
Lions declared CB Emmanuel Moseley, DL Romeo Okwara, DL Isaiah Buggs, DL Brodric Martin and CB Steven Gilmore inactive for Week 1 against the Chiefs.
It’s a quiet list for the healthy Lions heading into their most anticipated opener in years. Week to week, Moseley could be return for next Sunday’s tilt with the Seahawks.
  • DET Cornerback #4
Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) will not play in Week 1 against the Chiefs.
Moseley is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 5 last year. He appears to be close to a return but will get at least one more week to return to full strength. He is the only Lions with an injury designation heading into their opener versus the Chiefs.

Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.
Until we hear otherwise, Moseley feels like a legit 50/50 shot to play on Thursday. Back-to-back limited practices is a good sign, but the team didn’t activate him from the PUP list until August 29th, with Tuesday marking his first full week back. His final designation after Wednesday’s practice will give us a better sense of whether or not we can expect to see him on Thursday.

Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) was limited in Monday’s practice.
Moseley is returning from a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 5 of last season. A limited practice is an encouraging start to his week, but Moseley was only recently activated off the PUP list, and is just logging his first few practices of the offseason. While a Week 1 return is somewhat possible, it wouldn’t be surprising to the him sit on Thursday, and get a few more days of practice before seeing live action.

Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley has been activated from the PUP list.
Moseley suffered a torn ACL in last season’s Week 5 contest against the Panthers. After spending all of training camp on the PUP list, the veteran corner is now eligible to play in Week 1 against the Chiefs. The Lions signed Moseley earlier this spring to bolster a pass defense that allowed the third-most passing yards per game last season. Moseley is expected to start once fully healthy.

Lions signed CB Emmanuel Moseley, formerly of the 49ers, to a one-year, $6 million contract.
The Lions continue to revamp a secondary that allowed the third-most passing yards per game (245.8) last season with the signing of Moseley. Moseley suffered a torn ACL in last year’s Week 5 win over the Panthers but has started every game he’s appeared in since 2021. Moseley will join newly signed cornerback Cameron Sutton next season and could play opposite him in Aaron Glenn’s revamped defense.
