Bears declared DT Grady Jarrett, K Cairo Santos, LB Ruben Hyppolite II, G Luke Newman, LB Noah Sewell, WR Jahdae Walker, and QB Case Keenum inactive for Week 7 against the Saints.
Jarrett, who has been battling a knee injury, was said to be likely to suit up on Sunday, but that will not be the case. With the weather making this likely to be a run-heavy game, Jarrett being out is a slight bump for Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller.
  • CHI Running Back #4
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports D’Andre Swift (groin) is expected to play in Week 7 against the Saints.
Rapoport notes Bears DT Grady Jarrett (knee) is also expected to play. Swift was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice before being downgraded to limited sessions on the following two days. The team then listed him as questionable. Swift told reporters after Friday’s practice that the limited days were simply maintenance. He has been dealing with a myriad of injuries this year but has yet to miss any time. Swift should get plenty of work as a home favorite versus the Saints this week, vaulting him up the RB2 ranks.
  • CHI Running Back #4
Bears RB D’Andre Swift (hip) is active for Week 4 against the Raiders.
For the second straight week, Swift will suit up on game day after a trio of limited practice sessions. The Bears’ starting running back totaled 13 carries and three targets despite playing through a quad injury last week. He’s caught three passes in every game this season. Fantasy managers should expect 15 or so touches for him against the Raiders today. He’s a back-end RB2. The Bears declared CB Kyler Gordon, DT Grady Jarrett, LB TJ Edwards, RT Darnell Wright, TE Colston Loveland, DT Chris Williams and QB Case Keenum inactive for Week 4 against the Raiders. Loveland’s absence does not alter TE Cole Kmet’s projected workload enough to put Kmet on the TE1 radar.
  • CHI Cornerback #1
Bears ruled out CB Jaylon Johnson (groin) for Week 3 against the Cowboys.
It’s unclear why the Bears have not yet placed Johnson on injured reserve, but that could occur on Saturday. The star cornerback is expected to undergo surgery after suffering what is believed to be a season-ending groin injury. Bears slot CB Kyler Gordon, LB T.J. Edwards and backup CB Jaylon Jones are all sidelined by hamstring injuries. Bears DL Grady Jarrett (knee) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 3, but the Cowboys should be able to pass and run as they please against this depleted unit.
  • CHI Defensive Lineman #50
Bears DT Grady Jarrett (knee) is questionable for Chicago’s Week 2 game against the Lions.
Jarrett was able to get in a limited session on Friday after missing each of the first two practices of the week. Jarrett played 46 of the 56 snaps in Week 1 and will likely be dialed back a little even if he is active in Week 2. Andrew Billings and Chris Williams will pick up more slack against Detroit.
  • CHI Defensive Back #6
Bears CB Kyler Gordon (hamstring) and DT Grady Jarrett (knee) were estimated non-participants in Wednesday’s walk-through practice.
Gordon and Jarrett were the only non-participants for Chicago on Wednesday. Gordon has been rehabbing a hamstring strain since last month and missed Week 1. Meanwhile, Jarrett is dealing with a knee injury from Monday’s loss to the Vikings. Wednesday’s injury report is an estimate, so Bears fans can stay tuned later in the week to see if the defenders practice in time for Week 2.
  • CHI Defensive Tackle #97
Bears signed DT Grady Jarrett to a three-year, $43.5 million contract.
$28.5 million of this is fully guaranteed at signing. It’s kind of surprising with this kind of market developing this quickly that the Falcons weren’t able to trade Jarrett, but it is understandable given how much they’re focusing on ignoring moving on from Kirk Cousins. Jarrett will slot in next to Gervon Dexter on the Bears interior, and Chicago has now spent heavily on their offensive and defensive lines this offseason in hopes of winning in the trenches.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #97
    Falcons released DT Grady Jarrett.
Jarrett, a two-time Pro Bowler, has spent his entire 10-year career with the Falcons. The veteran tackle was set to enter the final year of his deal, but the Falcons opted to release Garrett in a move that will save them $16.250 million against the cap in 2025. Jarrett, 32, totaled 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks while also putting up nine TFLs last season. After a torn ACL ended his 2023 campaign, he bounced back nicely in 2024 and should have a strong market as a free agent.
  • ATL Linebacker #44
Troy Andersen (knee) was removed from the Falcons’ injury report and will play in Week 10 against the Saints.
In addition to Andersen, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (Achilles) has also been removed from the injury report and will play on Sunday. The Falcons will have two of their top defenders in place against a Saints offense that has already lost Rashid Shaheed for the season and is expected to be without Chris Olave (concussion). Center Drew Dalman (ankle) is also questionable for Week 10 but was a full participant in Friday’s practice.
  • ATL Defensive Tackle #97
Falcons DT Grady Jarrett (Achilles) told reporters he was “day to day.”
Jarrett noted that the “tendon looked good” in his MRI and that he’s positive about his recovery. We’d expect a missed practice or two this week, but perhaps this will just be a minor injury for the Falcons’ longest-tenured defender.
