Navies will be evaluated on Monday.

Navies started 30 games during the last two years for the Packers. He’ll be a reserve at best in Cincinnati.

Pretty surprising move considering how thin the Packers are at linebacker. But Navies, a starter last year, was part of the problem in 2004. If the team is going to struggle, they should struggle with new players.

The Packers are leaning towards bringing in another free agent like Month Beisel or drafting a LB early in the draft. Navies currently is not a recommended LB for your fantasy team.

Keasey is a special teamer, so his activation shouldn’t been viewed as a negative indication towards Frank Gore’s status for game day. It appears the Niners will rotate Parys Haralson and Brandon Moore at ROLB going forward.

The No. 22 overall pick in 2006 was hurt in practice Wednesday. Lawson was tied for second on the 49ers in tackles, and had a pass breakup and a sack through two games. He was a versatile cornerstone, so it’s a crushing blow to San Francisco’s defense. The top candidates to take over for Lawson are special teamer Hannibal Navies and ’06 fifth-rounder Parys Haralson.

Navies has started a total of three games since 2004, and is unlikely to be half the pass rusher Manny Lawson was. Parys Haralson and inside-outside linebacker Brandon Moore will also see increased playing time. The 49ers could explore the idea of bringing back edge rusher Roderick Green.

Parys Haralson, Brandon Moore, and Navies will split the OLB spot opposite Tully Banta-Cain moving forward. Keasey played special teams in Week 7.

From a starter to cut in the matter of weeks, Navies was suffering from a knee injury. San Francisco’s linebacker depth is pretty poor.
