NFL suspended CB J.C. Jackson for the first game of 2024.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Jackson, currently a free agent, violated “the personal conduct policy. He is eligible to sign and participate in all preseason activities. His suspension will take effect as of the roster reduction to 53 players.”

    Patriots released CB J.C. Jackson.
Jackson has played in just 15 games over the last two seasons and was in the midst of his second stint with the Patriots. During his first four years with the Patriots, Jackson appeared in 62 games while totaling 25 interceptions and earning a Second-Team All-Pro nod in 2021. Jackson signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Chargers during the 2022 offseason but was limited to just five games due to injuries. He was benched in Week 6 of last season against the Broncos and traded to the Patriots soon after. At 28-years-old, Jackson should have a decent market as a once-proven-talent, but may need to prove he can still play on a one-year deal next season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Patriots CB J.C. Jackson was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list.
Jackson had dealt with his fair share of struggles this season, starting off with the Chargers and getting traded back to the Patriots. He struggled to get back on track to his former self, getting benched and missing time throughout the season. The Patriots chose to place him on the reserve/non-football illness list, likely ending his season.

DeVante Parker (concussion) will not play in Week 10 against the Colts.
Parker will miss his second-straight game with a concussion after not joining the team on the flight to Germany. As far as Parker goes, fantasy managers won’t feel the impact of his absence beyond knowing it means more playing time for Jalen Reagor and Demario Douglas. In addition to Parker, the Patriots also ruled out offensive tackle Trent Brown (personal/ankle) and cornerback J.C. Jackson (personal).

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports Patriots CB J.C. Jackson won’t join the team on their trip to Germany for Week 10.
Jackson was benched for some of the team’s Week 9 loss to Washington after showing up late on Saturday at the Patriots hotel. Jackson, who re-joined the Patriots after a failed tenure with the Chargers, has long struggled with what Breer called “reliability issues.” This has clearly drawn the ire of disciplinarian Bill Belichick. Jackson is expected to return to the team following their Week 11 bye. New England’s defense has been graded by PFF as this year’s 16th best coverage unit.
  • NE Cornerback #27
Patriots acquired CB J.C. Jackson from the Chargers in exchange for 2025 sixth and seventh round draft picks.
Jackson returns to New England after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Pats, emerging as a shutdown corner in 2020 and 2021, when he combined for 17 interceptions and 37 defended passes. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the Patriots traded for Jackson because they lost rookie CB Christian Gonzalez to a season-ending labrum injury. Jackson’s time with the Chargers was an abject disaster both for Jackson and the team. He’s been a healthy scratch of late while dealing with legal issues related to the alleged negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Jackson in 2022 was graded by Pro Football Focus as the league’s worst cover corner. He’ll join a New England defense allowing a 68 percent completion rate, the tenth worst in the NFL.
  • LAC Cornerback #27
Chargers CB J.C. Jackson will be active Week 4, according to head coach Brandon Staley.
Jackson was a healthy scratch in Week 3 against the Vikings. Reports were that a judge had issued an arrest warrant for him after being put on probation for negligent operation of a motor vehicle. His legal situation has presumably been handled and head coach Brandon Staley believes Jackson will be active Week 4 against the Raiders.

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reports a Massachusetts judge has issued an arrest warrant for Chargers DB J.C. Jackson.
According to Howe, Jackson was on probation for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failed to appear in court last Friday. Additionally, Jackson also failed to pay a $300 head injury fee and victim witness fee, and failed to attend or successfully complete a Brains at Risk Program. Jackson was not listed on the Chargers’ Week 3 injury report, but did not play in Sunday’s game against the Vikings.
  • LAC Cornerback #27
Chargers CB J.C. Jackson was not listed on the team’s injury report.
Jackson saw his 2022 season end in Week 7 with a torn patellar tendon. Despite the devastating knee injury, the veteran corner appears ready to go for Week 1 when the Chargers take on the Dolphins. Jackson should be in his normal outside cornerback role opposite cornerback Michael Davis.
  • FA Cornerback
Chargers CB J.C. Jackson (knee) told reporters he thinks he will be ready for the start of training camp.
His exact quote was: “I’m gonna be ready for training camp. I’m gonna be ready for Week 1. I’m gonna be ready whenever my name is called.” Jackson has a lot to prove in year two of his megadeal after looking a bust for the first few games before tearing his patellar tendon. The Chargers have not added much to the room this year, so they are counting on a comeback season.
