Chambers was never realistically going to be on the Chiefs’ roster. He’ll be 33 next month, was owed a $500,000 roster bonus on top of a $2.9 million base salary, and the Chiefs just landed Steve Breaston. With rapidly declining skills, Chambers’ NFL future is as a No. 4 or 5 receiver at best. The Chiefs also released DB Jackie Bates.
