ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Browns have hired Duce Staley as their running backs coach.
Staley was officially named as the team’s running back coach on the same day offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey put pen to paper. In addition to Staley and Dorsey, the Browns also named Tommy Rees as their passing game specialist/tight ends coach and Jacques Cesaire as their defensive line coach. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has made several changes to his staff since the end of last season as he looks to iron out the issues that plague his team in 2023 — specifically on the offensive side of the ball.

Texans hired ex-Bills assistant DL coach Jacques Cesaire as DL coach.
41-year-old Cesaire spent his entire nine-year playing career with the Chargers, spanning 109 games, and then he got into coaching in 2015 as the Bolts’ DL coach. He spent five years in San Diego before joining the Bills’ staff the last two seasons.

Bills hired Jacques Cesaire as assistant DL coach.
This will be Cesaire’s first foray into the NFL coaching ranks following a five-year stint at the University of San Diego, where he served as the school’s defensive line coach. A former defensive end himself, the 39-year-old appeared in 125 games including 66 starts for the Chargers over his nine-year playing career.

Chargers DE Jacques Cesaire left Sunday’s game against the Chiefs in the third quarter with a knee injury.
Cesaire is a rotational lineman that got the start today with Corey Liuget sidelined. He was injured while diving over the pile at the end of a Thomas Jones run. Cesaire was unable to return.

Chargers declared DE Jacques Cesaire, WR Bryan Walters, CB Shareece Wright, OT Tony Moll, DE/OLB Everette Brown and LB Nate Triplett inactive for Week 15 against the Ravens.
Amongst the league’s most banged up teams all season, the Chargers enter Week 15 near full health. Cesaire remains without a return date from his ankle injury.

Chargers DE Jacques Cesaire left Sunday’s Week 14 game against the Bills with an apparent left ankle injury.
Cesaire was immediately carted to the locker room. This has the look of a serious injury.
  • Coaching Staff
Charges DE Jacques Cesaire left Sunday’s game in the first half with a knee injury.
Vaughn Martin should pick up extra snaps. Cesaire is considered questionable to return.
  • Coaching Staff
Chargers released DE Jacques Cesaire and waived C Colin Baxter.
Limited by ankle and knee injuries last season, Cesaire appeared in only 12 games, making just two starts. An undrafted free agent, Cesaire has been with the Bolts since 2003, tallying 217 tackles and 12.5 sacks in 125 games.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Chargers GM A.J. Smith indicated that NT Antonio Garay will move around the defensive line more following the addition of Aubrayo Franklin.
“We’re three deep at nose tackle,” said Smith, referring to Garay, Franklin, and Cam Thomas. “But the versatility of Antonio Garay will allow him to be a floater. This gives John Pagano some flexibility on the defensive line.” The North County Times believes this may ultimately cost Jacques Cesaire his roster spot.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #93
Rookie Corey Liuget has been named the Chargers starting right defensive end.
It’s been a formality since Liuget stood out immediately at the beginning of training camp. The Bolts’ pass rush is even more intimidating this year than last, with the explosive Liuget supplanting a mediocre Jacques Cesaire.
