The international superstar punter now stands as the NFL’s seventh-highest paid punter, re-signing with the Giants prior to hitting free agency next week. The six-year veteran is now under team control through the 2027 season.

Jamie Gillan is questionable for Week 6 against the Bengals with a hamstring injury. The Giants brought in veteran punter Haack as a contingency plan. Schefter notes that Haack is expected to punt this week, which bodes poorly for Gillan’s availability.

Known as the Scottish Hammer by friends and family, Gillan spent all of 2022 with the Giants after spending the previous three seasons with the Browns. Racking up career-highs in punts (74), and net punting yards (2,975), Gillan ranked 15th in PFF punting grades (69.8) and was sixth in average hangtime.

NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported Saturday that “The Scottish Hammer” Jamie Gillan has won the Browns’ punting competition. Colquitt, a Pro Bowl alternate in 2018, was accordingly released in a corresponding roster move.
