Nedney

Nedney nailed 23-of-25 field goals between 30-45 yards in front of Titans coaches. Nedney’s cap number is $1.6 million, so he’ll only be back with the team if he re-negotiates.

He’ll be the Titans field goal kicker and kickoff specialist next season.

He hit kicks of 49 and 51 yards on Tuesday. He’s an excellent last-round kicker pick with Tennessee’s explosive offense.

What’s more, his entire season could once again be in jeopardy because of this hamstring injury. Nedney hurt his knee in Game One last year and missed the rest of the season. Punter Craig Hentrich could be a solution this week (or the Titans could see their game postponed), but the team might go back to Gary Anderson like they did last season.

It’s the second straight missed season for Nedney. Tennessee may contact Gary Anderson again to fill-in, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Nedney stayed on the ground in pain for a few minutes, but walked off the field under his own power. He missed most of last season with a torn ACL. The Titans punter Craig Hentrich may have to step in for week one.

There’s a good chance Tennessee will look into re-signing Nedney at a reduced salary.

It’s possible they could re-sign the injury-plagued veteran after releasing him for cap purposes.

Nedney, who battled injuries the last two seasons with the Titans, is a fine NFL kicker. Since the 49ers offense doesn’t figure to be exciting, he won’t be a great fantasy option.

Nedney is 35 but showing no signs of decline. He connected on 29-of-33 FGs last season and has hit at least 83% of his three-point tries in each of his four years as a Niner. His fantasy upside takes a hit with the loss of Mike Martz, however. The 49ers’ new conservative offense will likely score less.
