Bengals signed DB John Busing from their practice squad.
He’ll help on special teams with Johnathan Joseph suspended one game. Leon Hall and Deltha O’Neal will start on the corners against Kansas City.
  • NYG Defensive Back
Texans signed S John Busing, formerly of the Bengals.
Busing, 26, will try to make the Texans as a full-time special teamer.
  • NYG Defensive Back
Safety John Busing had a breakout game in the preseason finale, tying for the team lead in tackles with six, while adding an interception and a fumble recovery.
Coach Gray Kubiak says Busing has made an “impression.” Busing should be a solid special-teamer and backup for the Teaxans.
  • FA Defensive Back #31
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said changes are coming in the Texans’ secondary.
Bernard Pollard, who just signed, may be in line for some action. John Busing has already overtaken Dominique Barber at strong safety. But it’s not the pass defense that has been the issue for the Texans, as they’re ranked a mediocre 17th. Their anemic run defense is giving up 204.7 yards per game.

  • TB Wide Receiver
Bengals waived WR Mario Urrutia, DT Antwon Burton, S John Busing, DE/OLB Eric Henderson, and RB James Johnson.
Johnson and Urrutia could both be headed for the practice squad. Busing and Henderson were mainly special teamers. Burton is big, but real slow.
  • HOU Defensive Back
Texans FS Eugene Wilson has two broken toes and has been ruled out for this week’s game against Indianapolis.
Wilson will be week to week, which means backup John Busing will be thrown into the fire against the Colts this week. Busing struggled mightily at strong safety early in the season, so expect Peyton Manning to exploit him.
  • FA Defensive Back
Dominique Barber will start at free safety for the Texans this week.
Marion’s brother is coming off a six-tackle performance against the Jaguars last week. He’s moved ahead of John Busing on the depth chart.
  • NYG Defensive Back
    Bengals signed DB John Busing.
Busing was among the Bengals’ final training camp cuts and returns as a replacement for Corey Lynch, who landed on season-ending injured reserve.
  • NYG Defensive Back
The Texans have opted against tendering S John Busing, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Busing made numerous spot starts last year, but was never going to excel in coverage at over 220 pounds with 4.6 wheels on hot coals. Houston may bring him back as a gunner, but Busing, ideally, will not see time on defense.
