Eagles agreed to terms with TE Johnny Mundt, formerly of the Jaguars, on a one-year contract.
Mundt was released by the Jaguars on Tuesday and lasts just one day as a free agent with the Eagles adding him to their tight end room. His addition is unlikely to impact how the Eagles handle re-signing Dallas Goedert as Mundt is primarily a blocking tight end. The 31-year-old will be a depth piece and likely used heavily in the Eagles’ blocking attack.
  • FA Tight End #86
    Jaguars released TE Johnny Mundt.
Mundt is a nine-year veteran with 74 receptions for 658 yards and four touchdowns in his career. Primarily a blocking tight end, Mundt’s best years were his three seasons with the Vikings, playing in all 51 games and catching all four of his career touchdowns in that span. He will have some interest from teams looking to add a blocking tight end to their room this offseason.
  • JAC Tight End #85
Jaguars TE Brenton Strange (hip) won’t play in Jacksonville’s Week 11 game against the Chargers.
He was a surprise DNP on Friday as well. Strange is still in his 21-day window so there’s no need to push it if he’s not going to play this week. Hunter Long (hip/knee) was also ruled out today, leaving Johnny Mundt as the primary Jaguars tight end in Week 11.
  • JAC Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught 1-of-2 targets for 21 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 10 loss to the Texans.
He broke a tackle from Myles Bryant on his lone reception and found a first down. Neither Hunter Long nor Brenton Strange should feel very threatened when they return from injury. Obviously, don’t use Mundt in fantasy football.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Jaguars agreed to terms with TE Johnny Mundt, formerly of the Vikings, on a two-year, $5.5 million contract.
Entering his age-31 season, Mundt will look to establish the Grant Udinski culture in Jacksonville. Mundt had 55 receptions over three years in Minnesota and will be a fantasy non-factor. He’s being paid to block.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught 4-of-5 targets for eight yards in the Vikings’ Week 6 loss to the Lions.
Mundt had a 30-yard gain called back by holding in the third quarter. He has been serving as the Vikings’ starting tight end with T.J. Hockenson on the PUP list, but that should come to an end with the latter likely to return in Week 7. Mundt should not be rostered in even the deepest of fantasy leagues.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught his only two targets for 31 yards in Minnesota’s Week 5 win over the Jets.
You don’t need to roster him. Josh Oliver went catchless. The Vikings are on bye next week, and Mundt will be working on his blocking rather than his receiving.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught 1-of-3 targets for two yards and a touchdown in the Vikings’ Week 3 loss against the Texans.
Mundt caught a short touchdown from Sam Darnold between two defenders in the fourth quarter to put the game away for Minnesota. Mundt now has three targets in each of the Vikings’ three regular season games. He’s still splitting tight end snaps with Josh Oliver.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught 2-of-3 targets for 12 yards in the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the 49ers.
Mundt ran a route on 26 of Sam Darnold’s 31 drop backs, taking over the pass-catching role after splitting duties with Josh Oliver in Week 1 against the Giants. Oliver logged just eight routes in Week 2. Until TJ Hockenson returns from injury, it appears Mundt is the Vikings’ primary pass-catching tight end.
  • MIN Tight End #86
Johnny Mundt caught 2-of-3 targets for 15 yards in the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the Giants.
Mundt and Josh Oliver played to a standstill in T.J. Hockenson’s absence. For now, we haven’t seen enough to declare Mundt a TE2 streaming candidate.
