Dolphins agreed to terms with LB Jordyn Brooks, formerly of the Seahawks, on a three-year, $30 million contract.
The former No. 27 overall pick did not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Seahawks, putting him on the open market after just four seasons. He has been a full-time starter for Seattle in each of the past three seasons. Brooks saw his snap count fall in 2023 but managed to break out as a pass-rusher, tallying 4.5 sacks. He entered the season with two career sacks. Brooks added 111 tackles, eight TFLs, and an interception to his stat line as well. He will slot in a starting role for the Dolphins defense in 2024.

The Seahawks declared LB Jordyn Brooks, G McClendon Curtis, DE Mario Edwards, CB Kelvin Joseph, RB Kenny McIntosh, G Raiqwon O’Neal and OT Jason Peters inactive for their Week 17 game against the Steelers.
With Kenneth Walker officially active, the Seahawks should have their full arsenal of weapons against an ailing Steelers’ defense. The Seahawks are looking to stay alive in the NFC playoff race.

Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.
Brooks left Week 16 with an ankle injury and now starts out this week with a DNP listing. It is his second time dealing with an ankle injury this season as he returned from a torn ACL from the year prior. DE Mario Edwards (knee), DE Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder), and LB Nick Bellore (knee) were also non-participants, leaving the Seahawks defense thin to start the week.

Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks (ankle) is questionable to return to Week 16 with an ankle injury.
Brooks hurt his ankle late in the first quarter and went into the blue medical tent. On the first drive where he was replaced by Devin Bush, Titans TE Chig Okonkwo caught a touchdown pass. While that came on a trick play, this Seahawks defense will certainly miss Brooks over the middle of the field if he doesn’t return.
  • SEA Defensive End #99
Seahawks DT Leonard Williams (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Williams was acquired by Seattle at the trade deadline, playing in five games for the Seahawks. He was listed with a new ankle injury on Wednesday, not practicing to start the week. LB Jordyn Brooks (ankle), who left Week 13 early, also did not participate. Both Williams and Brooks are major contributors to the Seahawks defense and nursing ankle issues that could keep them out for Week 14 against the 49ers.
  • SEA Linebacker #56
Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks suffered an ankle injury in Seattle’s Week 13 game against the Cowboys.
Returning from a torn ACL this season, Brooks was announced as doubtful in the first half and did not return. Brooks has retained his near every-down role this year. A serious injury would be a major blow to the middle of the Seahawks’ defense.
  • SEA Linebacker #56
Seahawks activated LB Jordyn Brooks from the physically unable to perform list.
Brooks underwent ACL reconstructive surgery in January. The team declined his fifth-year option entering the new league year due to injury concerns, meaning the veteran linebacker will be playing for a new contract in the 2023 season. Brooks started 33 games for the Seahawks over the previous two seasons.
  • SEA Safety #33
Seahawks placed S Jamal Adams (quad) on the active/PUP list.
The Seahawks also placed LB Jordyn Brooks, CB Tariq Woolen, TE Noah Fant, DT Austin Faoliu, and DT Bryan Mone on the PUP list. All of the players can be activated at any time during training camp. Adams is still working his way back from the quad injury that ended his season in Week 1. His status for the team’s 2023 opener is up in the air. Woolen, the team’s top corner, tweaked his knee during OTAs and underwent a knee scope. He should be ready for the start of the season.

Speaking Thursday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said there is still “no firm timetable” for SS Jamal Adams’ (quad) return.
Carroll did put a timetable on having a timetable, however, saying he expected to know more about both Adams and Jordyn Brooks’ (knee) status in “6-8 weeks.” Whatever you say, Pete. After missing nine combined games his first two seasons in Seattle, Adams was limited to only one appearance in 2022. That he still remains without a timetable for an injury he suffered last Week 1 is obviously a poor sign. On the other hand, Carroll just kind of says things when it comes to injuries. We would consider Adams genuinely questionable for the opener against the Rams.

Seahawks did not exercise the fifth-year option on LB Jordyn Brooks.
Brooks tore his ACL and underwent surgery to repair the damage just three months ago, placing his status in doubt for Week 1. The return of Bobby Wagner gives the Seahawks the flexibility to allow Brooks the time to fully heal before returning to game action. That could mean Brooks is looking at a trip to the reserve/PUP list to start the 2023 season, after which he’ll be playing for a new contract.
