    Raiders signed OL Junius Coston.
The fourth-year guard/tackle was released by the Packers with an injury settlement prior to the season opener. Coston is an interesting flier for a Raiders team in need of help along the offensive line. He just turned 25 and has experience in a similar zone-blocking scheme with Green Bay.
  • Raiders waived OL Junius Coston.
The Raiders weren’t impressed by Coston after just signing him last week.
  • G Junius Coston was one of the more impressive players at Packers minicamps.
Coston lined up opposite rookie Daryn Colledge with the first-team offense throughout the workouts. A second-year player, Coston is said to have exceptional body strength.
  • Packers RG Jason Spitz is not expected to start in Week 2.
The ’06 third-rounder is dealing with a calf strain, but also may have lost his job outright to Junius Coston, a bigger body who’s flashed in practice.
  • Packers starting right guard Jason Spitz could miss some time with the strained quad he suffered against the Lions in Week 17.
Left guard Junius Coston could also miss a couple of weeks with a calf strain, leaving the Packers concerned about playing Daryn Colledge and Tony Moll at both guard spots in their first playoff game. The Packers will have a better idea once they return to practice on Friday.
