Kentucky redshirt senior TE Justin Rigg is not listed on the team’s depth chart ahead of Saturday’s game at Florida due to an undisclosed injury.
Rigg (6'6/263) appeared in each of Kentucky’s first seven games but was not available for Saturday’s loss at Alabama. For the season, the redshirt senior has caught eight passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. Redshirt sophomore Keaton Upshaw, who started in Rigg’s absence, appears set to do so for a second consecutive week.

Rivals’ Justin Rowland reports that Kentucky is seeking a medical redshirt for sophomore TE Justin Rigg.
According to Rowland, Rigg suffered three lacerations to his kidney in a win over New Mexico State on September 17. The 6-foot-6, 251-pounder did not play again during the past campaign, though he did manage to return for TaxSlayer Bowl practices in December. He did not see the field in the eventual bowl loss to Georgia Tech. Should his application for a medical redshirt be approved, he will have four years of eligibility remaining come the start of the 2017 season.
  • Tight End
Kentucky junior TE Justin Rigg (spleen) will likely miss the remainder of spring practice.
Rigg (6'6/250) was hospitalized after colliding with CB Chris Westry on Monday. It was initially reported that he had sustained a concussion. It turns out that it’s a spleen issue -- one which does not currently require surgery -- instead. Wildcats HC Mark Stoops said that Rigg is expected to be released from the hospital at some point on Tuesday and offered a sunny outlook for what initially looked like a scary situation, saying, “All the tests last night and this morning, everything is very positive, very good. He should have a full recovery.” We’re happy to hear that, though it should be noted that this is the second internal injury he has sustained in the span of less than two years. He previously had to mend from three lacerations to the kidney suffered early in the 2016 season.

Lexington Herald-Leader’s Jen Smith reports Kentucky junior TE Justin Rigg suffered a concussion in practice on Monday.
Rigg was hospitalized after a collision with CB Chris Westry. The 6'6, 250-pounder is a former three-star tight end with only one career catch. This is a tough break for a player who has been sidelined for the majority of his career.
  • Tight End
Kentucky junior TE Justin Rigg (spleen) has played in both of the team’s games this season.
Rigg (6'6/250) required hospitalization after colliding with a teammate early in spring practice. He went on to miss the remainder of that offseason practice slate, but with a full summer to recover, the junior has been able to play without issue through two games. He mostly serves as a blocking tight end for the Wildcats.
