Kentucky junior TE Justin Rigg (spleen) will likely miss the remainder of spring practice.
Rigg (6'6/250) was hospitalized after colliding with CB Chris Westry on Monday. It was initially reported that he had sustained a concussion. It turns out that it’s a spleen issue -- one which does not currently require surgery -- instead. Wildcats HC Mark Stoops said that Rigg is expected to be released from the hospital at some point on Tuesday and offered a sunny outlook for what initially looked like a scary situation, saying, “All the tests last night and this morning, everything is very positive, very good. He should have a full recovery.” We’re happy to hear that, though it should be noted that this is the second internal injury he has sustained in the span of less than two years. He previously had to mend from three lacerations to the kidney suffered early in the 2016 season.
