The Bengals have had three major injuries to their safeties this year. Rookie corner Madieu Williams may have to fill in on Sunday.

Josh Bullocks took his usual spot at free safety. Harper should retain his starting job despite recovering from surgery for a torn ACL.

Harper is recovering from a torn ACL and hasn’t practiced consistently during training camp. It may take some time for Harper to regain his full health and his starting job.

Kaesviharn is virtually assured to be New Orleans’ third safety at worst, but he could pass Bullocks closer to or during the season. Roman Harper appears safe on the strong side despite coming off a major injury.

Bullocks had injured his quad warming up before Monday night’s game and was inactive. He’ll likely start against Arizona on Sunday.

He was late getting over to help CB Jason David on a 60-yard bomb to Joey Galloway in Week 13 and benched for Kevin Kaesviharn thereafter. Harper had a solid rookie year, but his knee issues may have cost him some speed.

Kaesviharn was set to earn $1.6 million in 2009, but lost his spot when the Saints signed Pierson Prioleau to back up new starting FS Darren Sharper and SS Roman Harper. The 33-year-old may catch on elsewhere as a reserve, but Kaesviharn is now an injury-prone liability in coverage. The Saints are likely to target a free safety early in the upcoming draft.

The 33-year-old must not have shown much during his one-and-a-half week stay on the roster. He wasn’t needed with Charles Godfrey (hand) back.
