Bucs receiver Larry Brackins is missing mini-camp this week with a hamstring injury.
The promising community college project should still have a good chance to make the Bucs in training camp. He’s using the time to learn Jon Gruden’s massive playbook.

Tampa Bay rookie WR Larry Brackins has impressed the Buccaneers’ coaching staff in voluntary workout sessions.
The fifth-round rookie pick out of Pearl River Community College has been compared to a wild horse that could be a stallion by head coach Jon Gruden. Brackins should make the team as a special teams player and a reserve to WRs Michael Clayton, Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver
Bucs rookie WR Larry Brackins has joined the team in practice.
''We took Larry off the PUP list and now he’s on the KOP -- kind of able to perform,’' coach Jon Gruden said.

    Jets signed WR Larry Brackins.
Brackins was last with the Philadelphia Soul, where Tony Graziani was his QB and CB Dee Webb his teammate.
  • FA Wide Receiver #83
Jets waived WR David Ball, G Jacob Bender, WR Larry Brackins, CB Rudy Burgess, OL Stanley Daniels, OL Kyle DeVan, OL Nate Garner, S James Ihedigbo, DE Bryan Mattison, G Matt McChesney, and LB Blair Phillips.
Ball was prolific at New Hampshire, but may be too slow to run with the big boys. It appears David Clowney (collarbone) will stay on the roster.

Bucs signed WR Larry Brackins to a futures contract.
The comunity college project was a fifth-round pick in last year’s Draft. He has great size and speed but is still very raw. Other interesting futures contracts went to WR Paris Warren, who has a similar profile, WR J.R. Russell, and QB Jared Allen.

Bucs coach Jon Gruden hasn’t given up on three receivers he drafted last year: Larry Brackins, J.R. Russell, and Paris Warren.
Tampa took the trio late in the draft and they mostly spent the year on the practice squad. Tampa probably has Edell Shepherd and Ike Hilliard slotted to make the roster, but there is room for a second-year player to make a leap.

Bucs selected Pearl River CC wideout Larry Brackins with the 155th of the NFL Draft.
Pearl River does it again. Many thought this kid would have been a second rounder if he could get his academics fixed enough to play D1 football. He’ll fit right in on the Bucs.

    Bucs released WR Larry Brackins.
Brackins was drafted as a fifth-round project in 2005.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver
Former Bucs WR Larry Brackins may have failed a league-administered drug test.
Brackins is not expected to have fantasy value any time in the near future.
