Ravens selected Oregon OT Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu with the No. 199 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Aumavae-Laulu was a 4-star recruit and the top-ranked JUCO offensive tackle in the 2019 recruiting class according to 247 Sports. At 6’5/322, Aumavae-Laulu was one of the biggest guards in this class, though after his JUCO stint, he ended up starting 29 games at right tackle for Oregon. He was announced at tackle by the Ravens. A physical specimen, he is a force in the run game when he can use his innate gifts to his advantage. Otherwise, he lacks the technical refinement to remain upright and recover when he gets off balance. This may be due to his mass or simply because his legs are too long. He is a power tackle who could thrive in a more stationary position on the interior. Don’t expect him to contribute right away, but in a few years, we could be hearing his name as one of the more highly sought-after backups in free agency on his second contract.

  • Oregon junior OL Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu could challenge returning starter Dallas Warmack for the starting right guard job in the fall.
Aumavae-Laulu (6'6/332) was one of the top junior college prospects in his class when he picked Oregon over USC and Ole Miss, and even with the Ducks returning all five starters up front he could make a run at the starting right guard job in the fall. “He had a tremendous spring, and we expect him to be battling for a starting position down the line here,” Oregon HC Mario Cristobal said of Aumavae-Laulu in an interview with Tyson Alger of The Athletic. Beating out Warmack will be difficult however, as he started all 13 games for Oregon in 2018 after transferring in from Alabama.
  • Oregon received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 JUCO T prospect Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu.
Aaumavae-Laulu is a massive 6-foot-7, 345-pound tackle prospect, and he ranks as the top junior college player -- regardless of position -- in 247 Sports composite rankings. His top three schools also included USC and Ole Miss, and he had several other high-profile schools trying to procure his services. This is a huge get -- literally and figuratively -- for the Ducks, who are having an exceptional beginning to the 2019 recruiting class. Oregon now ranks as the top class in 247 Sports rankings for Pac-12 schools, and eighth overall.
