Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (ankle) will not play in the Divisional Round against the Broncos.
Jordan Poyer will also miss this game with a hamstring issue. Neither player was able to practice before today. The Bills will be undermanned in the secondary as they travel to take on the Broncos in Denver. Per usual, it will be up to Josh Allen to put the team on his bcak this week.
  • BUF Cornerback #31
Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (ankle) did not participate in Tuesday’s walkthrough.
Hairston missed the Bills’ Wild Card victory with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 18. There are several defensive players listed as limited on the Bills’ practice report as well, though it is merely an estimation as the team held a walkthrough practice, so reports from later in the week will tell a more concrete story. Hairston will need to get some practice time in before the end of the week in order to have a chance at playing in the Divisional Round against the Broncos.
  • BUF Linebacker #8
Bills LB Terrel Bernard (calf) won’t play in Buffalo’s Wild Card game against the Jaguars.
Bernard injured the calf in Week 17 and has not practiced yet while earning a pair of rule-outs. Dorian Williams and Joe Andreessen saw all the linebacker snaps against the Jets in a meaningless Week 18, while we’d expect to see Shaq Thompson and Matt Milano out there for the Bills on Sunday against the Jaguars. Buffalo also ruled out 2025 first-round CB Maxwell Hairston (ankle), who injured himself late in Week 18.
  • BUF Cornerback #31
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said CB Maxwell Hairston is in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Hairston suffered a concussion in the Bills’ Week 12 loss to the Texans on Thursday Night Football. The rookie cornerback has forced one incompletion and notched two interceptions since taking the field in Week 8, following a training camp knee injury.
  • BUF Linebacker #58
Bills LB Matt Milano (pectoral) is questionable to play in Week 8 against the Panthers.
Fellow Bills’ LB Terrel Bernard (ankle) is also questionable, as is rookie CB Maxwell Hairston (knee). DT DaQuan Jones (calf) and S Taylor Rapp (knee) have both been ruled out. The injuries should allow the Panthers to continue running ball efficiently with RBs Rico Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard.
  • BUF Cornerback #31
Bills designated CB Maxwell Hairston (knee) to return from injured reserve.
His 21-day practice window will open, so the Bills will have three weeks to see him in practice before they have to activate him. Hairston sprained his knee early in training camp and, whenever he makes his Bills debut, it will be the first time we have any film of him on an NFL field. We’d bet on the Bills taking a conservative approach with the rookie first-rounder during his return.
  • BUF Cornerback #31
Bills placed CB Maxwell Hairston on injured reserve and designated him for return.
Hairston suffered a sprained knee at the end of July, and the 22-year-old will need to miss the first four games —at minimum — before having a chance to join the Bills. Once healthy, the 2025 first-round picks should be a cog in the secondary, but he may need to wait until 2026 until he’s ready to make a significant impact.
  • BUF Cornerback #31
Bills coach Sean McDermott said Maxwell Hairston (knee) is “a ways away” from beginning a ramping up process.
It sure sounds like there’s a real chance Hairston opens up on injured reserve after spraining his knee early in training camp. Buffalo might have Tre’Davious White or Dane Jackson running next to incumbents Christian Benford and Taron Johnson in nickel sets to open the season.
  • BUF Cornerback
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports Bills CB Maxwell Hairston is considered week-to-week after suffering a sprained knee.
Hairston went down with a non-contact knee injury on Tuesday. He walked off under his own power but left with the team’s trainer and did not return, leading many to believe he suffered a major injury. Hairston is still going to be out for a few weeks, but the rookie avoided a worst-case scenario outcome to say the least. The missed practice time will likely prevent Hairston from making any push for a starting role out of the gates, though that was always an unlikely outcome.
  • BUF Cornerback
Bills CB Maxwell Hairston suffered a non-contact knee injury in Tuesday’s practice.
Hairston, a first-round pick of the Bills in this year’s draft, went down with a non-contact injury to his right knee in training camp practice. He walked off the field under his own power, accompanied by the team’s trainer. The Bills gave no update on Hairston, who is competing for the starting cornerback job opposite Christian Benford. The 21-year-old is at risk of losing valuable training camp snaps as the Bills look to reinforce their secondary.
