Jarrian Jones had been facing a challenge from Brown, who has more experience in new DC Anthony Campanile’s preferred zone coverage schemes. Instead, it looks like Brown will be questionable for the start of the season with this injury and Jones will have more runway to play when (if?) Travis Hunter is off the field on defense.

Four of the five squads -- Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas and LSU -- ply their trade in the SEC. The lone outlier would be Oklahoma State. Brown ranks as ESPN 300’s No. 187 overall prospect for the 2017 cycle. They note that the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder “has the ability to make plays all over the field and is scheme versatile” and call his build and frame those of “a big-time defensive back prospect.” Brown plans on making his commitment on August 24, the day of his birth.

Rivals’ No. 1 safety prospect in the state of Arkansas, Brown will be staying home to ply his wares with the Razorbacks. ESPN 300 is the highest on him of the major recruiting outlets, slotting him into their master list at No. 185. The Worldwide Leader’s scouting team writes that the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder “has the ability to make plays all over the field and is scheme versatile.” They are particularly complimentary of his football intelligence.
