The former Texas star was selected in the fourth-round of this year’s draft. Detroit secondary receiver Roy Williams could have a big game lined up against his former teammate.

R.W. McQuarters and Jerry Azumah should reclaim their usual starting roles in Chicago.

The deal is reportedly for four years, $1.8 million. The University of Texas product was an All-American punt returner and will compete for spots at both return positions.

Vasher, an All Pro player in 2005, skipped two weeks of sessions as he looked for a contract extension. Chicago was unmoved. Vasher will be a restricted free agent next year and will receive the highest tender if he keeps his play up.

No injury has been reported and the Chicago Sun Times speculates the Pro Bowler may be unhappy with his contract. Vasher’s base salary for 2006 is $425,000 and his rookie deal expires after 2007. Ricky Manning Jr. is working with the first-team defense.

Vasher returned to Chicago after a brief contract dispute Monday. It appears he won’t hold out of training camp.

Vasher, a fourth-round pick in 2004, was the best cornerback in Chicago by far last season. But trying to get a raise with two years left on a rookie deal is unlikely. It’s uncertain if he’ll hold out of training camp, but Ricky Manning can man his spot in the meantime.

Vasher, a Pro Bowl corner, was injured in the Bears’ opening exhibition game. He is expected to return in time for Week 1.

He’ll replace Todd McMillon. The Eagles passing attack is set up for another huge day.
